Nine Inch Nails posted two new songs from the forthcoming cd, Year Zero. You can check out "My Violent Heart" and "Survivalism" right here.

According to Trent Reznor, Year Zero is part 1 of a 2 part concept record. The concept? This is what Trent had to say:

What's it about? Well, it takes place about fifteen years in the future. Things are not good. If you imagine a world where greed and power continue to run their likely course, you'll have an idea of the backdrop. The world has reached the breaking point - politically, spiritually and ecologically. Written from various perspectives of people in this world, "year zero" examines various viewpoints set against an impending moment of truth.

How does it sound? You will hear for yourself soon enough, but given the point of this document is to provide information... This record is much more of a "sound collage" than recent efforts from me. A lot of it was improvised.

It is very tedious describing your own music.

It's not just music.

It's probably too long, but it felt like the right thing to do to paint the complete picture.

It will sound different after a few listens.

You can think about it and it will reveal more than you were expecting.

Ian Astbury from the Cult is ready to take things full force! Astbury recently quit Riders On The Storm (featuring ex Doors members Robby Krieger & Ray Manzarek) to focus his attention on the Cult. Astbury and Billy Duffy are expected to into a recording studio next month to begin working on a brand new Cult cd. In addition, a Cult DVD is expected to be released in April.

You can read an article about the Cult here.
Iggy & the Stooges will be at the Fox Theater on April 13th. According to the band, the internet presale starts this Tuesday morning (February 20th) at 10am. To grab tickets, use this link.

Audioslave is over. A few weeks ago, word came down that Rage Against The Machine was reuniting, which caused rumors to fly regarding Audioslave's demise. In addition, Chris Cornell had made it pretty clear that his main focus would be writing/recording a new solo cd. Today Cornell made it official--he announced that he'd release his new solo cd, Carry On, on May 1st, and in addition, he would be permanently leaving Audioslave.

Here's an excerpt from the press release:

Additionally Cornell is permanently departing super-group Audioslave stating, "Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave. I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors."

It's surprising Audioslave lasted as long as they did. From the beginning rumors swirled about tension within the band. Audioslave even went on the road using four separate tour buses--one for each member--and at times they even booked separate hotel rooms.

Rage Against the Machine will be headlining one of the dates on Coachella in late April. Tom Morello recently told MTV that the band would most likely launch a reunion tour in the near future, possibly over the summer.

As expected, the Police held a press conference today to announce their intention to reunite and go out on the road this summer. The band also treated the fans to "Can't Stand Losing You" and "Roxanne."

Tickets will be $50, $90, and $225. There will be pre-sale opportunities for fan club members, so if you want a head start on tickets, you should consider joining the band's fan club, however it does cost 100 bucks to join. The fan club info can be found here.
