Mike Peters from the Alarm performed "Strength" atop the Empire State Building this past Friday. He was joined by Billy Duffy, Dave Wakeling, and Slim Jim Phantom.

From the official Alarm website:

Mike is a leukemia survivor and this event kicked off his "Love, Hope, Strength" foundation which will raise money and awareness in the fight against cancer. Prior to the performance, Mike, the band and a few friends climbed the stairs of the Empire State building (86 floors). Social Distortion will release a greatest hits disc in the fall. The cd will boast a whole bunch of the band's greatest hits, but there will also be one new song on the disc. The newly reunited Smashing Pumpkins will release a cd titled Zeitgeist on July 7th. The big Mystery regarding the project was who (besides Billy Corgan) was involved in the reunion. It has been pretty well publicized that drummer Jimmy Chamberlain is involved, but what about D'Arcy and James Iha? It turns out that neither of them will be a part of the reunion, which isn't all that shocking, especially considering rumors that have swirled over the years that Corgan played D'Arcy and Iha's parts on all the band's studio records. Iha recently confirmed that he is not involved in the reunion, revealing that he hasn't spoken to Corgan in "several years." Iha says that he is busy working on a new solo record and wants no part of the ol' Glory Days.
