March 17th, OLP will be playing a special acoustic Live X at the Spitfire & Firkin Pub in Windsor at noon (19 and over welcome, get there early space is limited!). March 18th OLP heads to Detroit to play the Fillmore.

If you're a fan of OLP, click here to read an interesting interview with Raine Maida. Maida talks about how the band almost broke up during the recording of Healthy in Paranoid Times. Here's an excerpt from the Jam Music article:

“It turned out to be a disaster,” L.A.-based vocalist Raine Maida admits. “The label wanted us to make Gravity part two and it just wasn’t working because that’s not how we work.”

Paired with proven hit-maker Bob Rock, 2005’s politically-charged “Healthy in Paranoid Times” was a sales disappointment that almost led to the band breaking up.

“There were a couple of times where I walked out of the studio,” the 40-year-old says. “I felt I couldn’t work with Bob anymore because he was being manipulated by the record company. The label kept saying, ‘We don’t hear a single,’ and we all felt pressured.

Linkin Park has filed a lawsuit against insurance company, Lloyd's of London. According to TMZ, the band canceled a handful of shows in 2008 after Chester Bennington hurt his back and was unable to perform. The band filed a claim with the insurance company, but it was subsequently denied after Lloyd's claimed Bennington's condition was pre-existing. The band has now filed a multi-million dollar suit.
Green Day will be hitting the road in August with AFI, Offspring and 311 will be touring together, and Paramore will be headlining this year's Honda Civic Tour set to kick off in June. Check back in the coming days for official dates for these tours...
The Kid Rock assault trial held in Los Angeles is over and Kid Rock lost. The three plaintiffs claimed Kid Rock assaulted them outside the Roosevelt Hotel in 2006. The jury agreed, and awarded the men 35,000 dollars--a far cry from the 15 million dollars the men had asked for.

OK Go has made it official--they have parted ways with label EMI. The band had been pretty vocal about their distaste for their label as of late, so it's not really surprising news. OK Go will release their music via their own record label Paracadute. Here's part of the band's official statement on the matter:

The band has left the EMI family of corporations to form their own enterprise, a homemade upstart called Paracadute. In addition to being humanity’s second most fun word to say (”pamplemousse” was taken), Paracadute is really just a way for the boys to continue doing what they’ve always done. Which is whatever they want. Being OK Go just got a little bit easier.

In more OK Go news, here's an interesting interview with vocalist Damian Kulash.
