The soundtrack to Dave Grohl's documentary centering around Sound City Studios and the legendary recording console used to record classic albums by Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine, and others will be released on March 12th.  Sound City Real To Reel contains songs inspired by the documentary and features many well-known guests such as Grohl's ex-Nirvana bandmates Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear; Taylor Hawkins and Nate Mendel from Foo Fighters; Trent Reznor, Corey Taylor, Josh Homme, and some big name old school rockers like Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks and Rick Springfield.

The first taste from Sound City Real To Reel came Wednesday when Grohl, Novoselic, Smear, and McCartney performed the new track "Cut Me Some Slack" at the Hurricane Sandy benefit at Madison Square Garden (and performed the song again on Saturday Night Live last night). Grohl revealed after the show that the song was recorded about six months ago when the guys got together for a jam session (the song was written and recorded in one day!) "Cut Me Some Slack" is available as an immediate download for fans who pre-order Real To Reel from iTunes. The album will be released on March 12th.

Sound City Movie (the full documentary) premieres at Sundance next month and will be given a limited run in theaters (dates/schedule to be announced soon). Sound City Movie drops February 1st and is available to pre-order now from iTunes or direct from the Sound City Movie website.
