Detroit's political drama may have reached its boiling point, however the incredibly HOT news is that yet another cool music festival is coming to Detroit!  Music fans are already swooning over the annual Orion festival coming to Belle Isle on June 8th and 9th, and now the indie-lovin' Laneway Festival is set to make its North American debut in Detroit this September!

The Laneway Festival began as a street festival in Melbourne, Australia in 2004 and over the years evolved into a pretty sweet indie festival which has played in seven cities (and three countries) worldwide: Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth in Australia; Auckland NZ, and Singapore.

Today at South By Southwest, Laneway festival organizers announced the North American debut of the event will take place September 14th at Meadowbrook!  The full lineup will be announced later this spring, but to give you an idea of the types of bands to expect on the bill, take a look at the lineup for January 2013 stop in Auckland - bands included Tame Impala, Cloud Nothings, Japandroids, Bat For Lashes, Alt J, Yeasayer, A Place To Bury Strangers, and more.

Fans interested in learning more about Laneway should visit the festival's official website here, or follow on Twitter and Facebook.
