Franz Ferdinand debuted the new single "Right Action" from the forthcoming record Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action last week. Before premiering the song on BBC Radio 1, host Zane Lowe interviewed vocalist Alex Kapranos, who revealed the inspiration for "Right Action" came from a used postcard he found for sale at a store in London which read:

'Come home, practically all is nearly forgiven'

Kapranos explained his analysis of the postcard to Lowe:

"practically all, not ALL, and not forgiven, but nearly forgiven. It's like all the kind of relationships you have in your life, nothing is completely clear...you might be truly in love with somebody but there's always something in the background affecting that feeling. I told Nick [McCarthy], we've got to write a song about that. There you are, we ended up with "Right Action."

And today, Franz Ferdinand posted a picture of the postcard that inspired "Right Action" on Twitter:

Franz Ferdinand's fourth studio album, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action will be released on August 27th. Pre-order from iTunes, Amazon, or Domino Records. The deluxe version of the album comes with a bonus live disc titled Right Notes, Right Words, Wrong Order.
