Band leader Matthew Hilt moved from Wales to New York City to form post-punk outfit Drowners back in 2011. Last spring the four piece released an ep titled Between Us Girls and later wowed fans at Lollapalooza in Chicago. The band's highly anticipated self-titled debut album Drowners finally drops January 28th and includes 12 (13, if you buy the version on Amazon) catchy guitar driven tracks in the vein of the Strokes, Parquet Courts, Vaccines, and Palma Violets. I loved this band and record upon first listen, and if you love Drowners' aforementioned influences you likely will too. Stream the record in full over at Gigwise or Rolling Stone.
