U2 are in Los Angeles for tonight's Academy Awards ceremony, where the band will perform their Oscar nominated song "Ordinary Love," and possibly even win the award. Ahead of all the action Bono was interviewed Irish program Sunday World, and made an interesting comment about the new U2 album: Bono revealed the band has been working on two albums:

"We've got two of them we're working on. I can't tell you any more about that or I'd have to kill you."

Bono's comments appear about ~ 2 minutes into the interview:

Perhaps Bono is just messing with people, as fan site AtU2 points out, James Mercer (the Shins, Broken Bells) made an off-hand comment about U2's new music in a recent interview with Rolling Stone. Mercer was asked about Broken Bells partner Brian Burton (aka Danger Mouse), who is producing the new U2 album. Mercer told Rolling Stone that "they've done tons of material" and "that whole first record is just Brian's work." So stay tuned.

Don't miss U2 as part of the 86th annual Academy Awards tonight. Karen O from Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Ezra Koenig from Vampire Weekend are also performing at the ceremony.
