The Smashing Pumpkins announced they've signed a recording contract with BMG and they'll release two new albums in 2015. The band entered the studio today to record the albums -- titled Monuments To An Elegy and Day For Night -- and they plan on releasing a single by the end of the year. Those worried about Billy Corgan heading into a synth-based direction after his 8 hour experimental show at ZuZu's Teahouse a few weeks back can be rest assured the new albums will indeed feature guitars. From the official posting:

For those interested in sound, think: ‘guitars, guitars, guitars, and more guitars;’ but more so on the epic side of things than say, grossly metallic. Recording sessions begin today, as plenty of songs have been written and ready to go. Manning the boards will be producer Howard Willing, with whom I first had the pleasure of working with during the ‘Adore’ sessions. We expect a single out by year’s end.

The Smashing Pumpkins also announced that they'll sharing items (photos, song titles, lyrics, etc) from each recording session on the newly launched website The Panopticon. Read more about The Panopticon here.

The band is expected to announce details regarding the reissue of Adore shortly. The reissue will be released later this year.
