The news isn't ridiculously surprising: Billboard is reporting that U2's follow up to 2009's No Line On The Horizon, won't be out until 2015. Multiple sources have told Billboard that U2 scheduled additional sessions with producers Ryan Tedder and Paul Epworth, with Danger Mouse still serving as the album's central producer. Read Billboard's exclusive report here.

Billboard's report gives credibility to last week's rumor that U2 was recording two different records.  It seems possible that U2 might not be planning to release two records, but it sure sounds like they're recording two records.   Perhaps they'll scrap/shelve the first version of the record after seeing what fresh recording sessions might produce, or at the very least, they'll have a whole lot more material to choose from when deciding what to release.

Back in September Bono told Letterman that it would be "some time" before the next album would be released. A few weeks prior to the Letterman interview Bono said the band was "beginning again" and he'd "like to think that next year there'll be a U2 release." Turns out Bono was right on both accounts -- it will be some time before the album comes out, and there was a U2 release in 2014 -- the new single "Invisible" was released in February.
