Al Jourgensen has announced plans to tour Ministry's final album From Beer To Eternity. The dates haven't been announced yet, however Jourgensen revealed his intention to tour the record via a post on Facebook yesterday. He also confirmed (in case there was any doubt) that he won't be recording another Ministry record.  Check out what Uncle Al had to say below:

"Yup you heard right...will be touring the FBTE album....the set will be FBTE in it's exact order...and a few oldies for an encore...and it just won't be America and Europe this time....we'll see ya down under as well as Mexico South America and Japan...so start rounding up every fucking Amish teen you can find and bring em to the shows.....I will exact my revenge on those bastards....I'm still puking from their toxic "wood milk " shit.......yuk!...if there was ever a reason to tour this is it....oh btw...it's a secret for now...but I'm pretty sure you've heard of the dude that'll take Mikey's place......ok that's it....so let it be written ...so let it be done....

P.S. still not a chance in hell there will be another Ministry album.....will be doing some side stuff though when I get my ass to LA.....Mikey's last words to me were....FBTE could not be topped ...so why bother MINISTRY RECORDINGS ARE DONE !!!! Carve that shit on a stone tablet!"

No word on when Jourgensen will be announcing more info on the tour, or who will be Mike Scaccia's replacement.

To date Hynde has premiered two videos from the album, "Dark Sunglasses," and "You Or No One," plus last week she appeared on Later...with Jools Holland to perform live. Today, in anticipation of the album The Guardian unearthed a 1979 interview with Hynde which was originally published in Melody Maker around the time the Pretenders' cover of "Stop Your Sobbing" (Kinks) was released. The article is an interesting read -- Hynde told stories about Malcolm McLaren, Jackie Wilson, working with Mick Jones, punk ideology, and forming the Pretenders.  Read the full article here.

Midge Ure returns with a new solo album titled Fragile on July 7th. Ure announced the news via a statement on his newly launched album microsite, plus he explained the philosophy behind the album:

"Music inhabits a very strange and different world these days but I would still like to think that what moved me and drove me to become a musician all those years ago still exists and lives on for many people out there. That indefinable something which makes you listen to a piece of music over and over again where you can't feel satisfied until you hear that guitar melody or that vocal phrase just one more time.

I think an album, like a diary, should reflect all the highs and lows and good and bad you have experienced over the time period it has taken to write.

That is exactly what I hope Fragile does."

The album's first single, "Because," will be released in the coming weeks, but for now fans can check out a 10 minute collection of samples from the album here, plus read Ure's full statement on Fragile here.

UPDATE 6/24/14: Ure's new single "Because" was released. Stream it below and read more here.

According to a report in Gigwise, Nick Cave was on hand to accept the award, which he dedicated to his wife. During his acceptance speech he thanked everyone involved with the record, particularly bandmate Warren Ellis:

"I just want to thank everyone. Warren has written the last album with me and suddenly we are getting this kind of stuff. He taught me how to dispose of three chords and get down to just one chord."

Bob Mould returns with his new studio album Beauty & Ruin on June 3rd. According to Mould, the album is about the realization that every year of his life has been tougher, and the subject matter in part deals with the passing of his father, who died in 2012. The 12 song album clocks in at 36 minutes, packing a short but very powerful assault. Mould achieved the intense sound on the album by using a technique he hadn't on previous records -- he wrote the songs standing up (as if he was standing up at a show performing), which positions/opens the diaphragm fully, giving the voice a fuller sound.

Mould has unveiled two songs from the record recently (stream below), but now fans can read a track-by-track description of all 12 songs here.

Pre-order Beauty & Ruin from iTunes, Amazon, and Merge.

Ian Curtis died on this day in 1980. A collection of audio, video, and links are posted below in remembrance.

Curtis' life was featured on the BBC program Great Lives in 2008. Host Matthew Parris, British poet Simon Armitage and Peter Hook discussed Curtis' life, musical impact, and his final days. During the show, Hook played a short snippet of an unreleased version of Ian Curtis singing "Love Will Tear Us Apart" recorded by Malcolm McLaren. Stream the episode of Great Lives below - more info on the episode is posted here.

Curtis took his own life the day before Joy Division were scheduled to leave England to come to America for their first tour. The full Joy Division North American tour itinerary isn't officially available to view, however this website attempted to piece the tour together using Rob Gretton's notes, club ads, and other scraps of info. FYI, there was a Detroit date scheduled for May 26th at Bookies.

An excellent documentary on Joy Division simply titled Joy Division was released in 2007. The film includes interviews with Curtis' band members as well as key players like Peter Saville, Anton Corbijn, and Tony Wilson, among others. The full documentary is available to view on Hulu.

In 2005, the Anton Corbijn-directed biopic Control was released. Watch the full film on Hulu.

Here's another documentary on Joy Division titled Joy Division: Under Review.  The film is "unofficial" and does not include interview footage with any of the surviving members of Joy Division/New Order, though it's still worth watching.

The shoegaze documentary Beautiful Noise directed by Eric Green premieres at the Seattle International Film Festival in Seattle on May 31st and June 1st. The film examines how bands such as Cocteau Twins, My Bloody Valentine, Jesus & Mary Chain, and other seminal shoegaze acts influenced and inspired generations of musicians. One of the exciting features of the documentary is that several musicians who rarely grant interviews, (let alone on-camera interviews), like Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine), Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins), and Jim Reid (Jesus & Mary Chain) have participated in the film. Other influential musicians in the alternative scene including Robert Smith, Bobby Gillespie, Trent Reznor, Billy Corgan, and Wayne Coyne also appear in the film.

Stay tuned for news on further screenings. In the meantime, take a look at the trailer for Beautiful Noise below plus a couple of interview clips (taken from the 2013 Kickstarter campaign) below.

Jack White and Neil Young head to the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Monday, May 12th to discuss Young's new album A Letter Home. The album merits a discussion with the two musical power players for a few reasons: the album is a collection of cover songs (originally by Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and Gordon Lightfoot and more), plus includes Young's cover of Bert Jansch's "Needle of Death," which was the inspiration for Young's classic song "The Needle & the Damage Done." White's involvement with the record makes it that much more interesting -- the album's vintage/lo-fi sound was achieved using the refurbished 1947 Voice-O-Graph booth inside White's recording studio at Third Man Records in Nashville.

Jimmy Fallon has not revealed whether Young and White will perform anything off A Letter Home (the appearance is being billed as an interview), but odds are there will be some sort of performance.

A Letter Home will be released on vinyl, CD, and digital album download on May 27th. Additionally, a limited edition boxed version including a standard CD, standard 12", a 'direct feed from the booth' 12" recording, seven 6" clear vinyl singles, DVD, and download card will also be released May 27th.

Stream "If You Could Read My Mind" (Gordon Lightfoot) and "Needle Of Death" below to get a taste of the lo-fi recording.

The Austin Psych Fest kicked off yesterday and it began with an exciting start -- during the Dandy Warhols' set, members of Brian Jonestown Massacre (Anton Newcombe, Joel Gion, and Matt Hollywood) joined them to perform the BJM classic "Oh Lord." It took a couple of tries to get the song going since they hadn't played the song in years, but they got it together and from all accounts, it was a truly amazing live experience.

Check out a couple of excellent photos shot last night here and here. Unfortunately there's isn't great video of the performance, but the audio that has appeared on You Tube is pretty clear.

Here's another video of the performance

Before anyone starts screaming about the 2004 documentary Dig, the Dandy Warhols have said in a few interviews that the documentary wasn't an entirely honest/accurate representation of the relationship between the Dandys and BJM, plus in 2012 Anton Newcombe remixed the Dandy Warhols song "The Autumn Carnival."
