Guitar legend Johnny Marr was born on this day! Let's hope he's not having an unhappy birthday!

Meanwhile, unlike some of the other artists who have been nominated for induction to the 2015 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame (some are even desperately begging their fans to vote for them), Marr really doesn't seem to care much whether the Smiths make it in or not. He told Australian mag Faster Louder:

"I’ve absolutely got no opinion on that because I don’t think anything’s going to happen," Marr admits. "I don’t really trouble myself with conjecture. If it were to happen, I’ll find out but I don’t think anything’s going to happen. It’s not even something that crosses my mind."

Marr released his second solo album Playland in October and is touring to support the record in North America over the next few weeks. Dates for the tour are posted below. Tickets for all dates are on sale now.

The Charlatans return with a new studio album on January 26th. The album, Modern Nature, is the band's first without drummer Jon Brookes, who died in August 2013 from brain cancer. The Charlatans say they were determined to continue making music to honor Brookes' wishes, because he was adamant there should be another Charlatans record. The band headed into the studio at the beginning of the year and recorded the album utilizing three drummers -- Stephen Morris (New Order/Joy Division), Pete Salisbury (The Verve), and Gabriel Gurnsey (Factory Floor).

Two tracks from Modern Nature have premiered so far; "Talking In Tones" and "So Oh," both of which are available to stream below. The album does not yet have a North American release date, however fans interested in obtaining the import can pre-order the standard 11 track album, or deluxe edition (includes four extra tracks) from Piccadilly Records.

Immediately after the news broke, fans rushed to voice hopes that the breakup of Beady Eye will pave the way for a reunion (Ride and/or Oasis).

Then there's this...

Beady Eye released two albums -- Different Gear, Still Speeding (2011), and Be (2013). Neither record was well received by critics, though both records had some great moments.

Back in August Morrissey announced that he curated a new Ramones greatest hits collection by request of the Ramones' management, plus selected the sleeve image for the release. According to a new report published in Modern Vinyl, it appears that the collection, titled Morrissey Curates The Ramones, will be released on November 28th for Black Friday Record Store Day. So far the report in Modern Vinyl has not been confirmed by Morrissey or his management, however if true, the release will be one of the most sought after releases -- less than 5 thousand copies are being pressed. Take a look at the rumored tracklisting and read the whole report over at Modern Vinyl via Int'l Playboy.

UPDATE (10/21): The Record Store Day website has confirmed that Morrissey Curates The Ramones will be released for Black Friday Record Store Day on November 28th. From the listing:

"Morrissey, being a big Ramones fan, particularly of the early years, had always wanted to compile a "best of" album and this year he got his wish. This compilation reflects Morrissey's experience of listening to the band for the first time. With the sad passing of Tommy recently, both management and Morrissey felt this was a fitting tribute. The use of the Union Jack on the cover reflects both how important the band were to the UK music scene but also how the UK embraced them and their sound. The photo on the back cover by Danny Fitzgerald is evocative of the period and was selected by Morrissey."

Noel Gallagher announced details for his new solo album, titled Chasing Yesterday, during a fan Q & A on Facebook this morning. He revealed he finished the album a few months ago (after the World Cup finals) and sonically the music is eclectic sounding.  As for the album title Chasing Yesterday, Gallagher says there's really no story behind the title (he doesn't put a lot of emphasis on album titles). The album includes a song titled "Lock All The Doors" that he began writing in 1993, but didn't get around to finishing until recently, plus Johnny Marr also plays guitar on one of the songs on the record -- Gallagher told fans Marr is "a truly great guitarist and he's one of my oldest friends."

Chasing Yesterday will be released on March 2nd and is preceded by a new single titled "In The Heat Of The Moment," which will be released as a limited edition colored vinyl 7" on November 17th. Pre-order "In The Heat Of The Moment" here, and pre-order the full album Chasing Yesterday from Amazon or Gallagher's official store.

Stream "In The Heat Of The Moment" below plus watch the archive of Noel Gallagher's full Q & A from today here or down below.

Gallagher also announced dates for a tour of UK, Ireland, and Europe which takes place in March. Gallagher is also planning a North American tour, details for the North American dates will be announced later this year.

Noel Gallagher is preparing to officially announce details behind his new studio album. On October 13th he'll discuss his new album during a live Facebook Q & A event hosted by Matt Everitt (BBC Radio 6 presenter). The event will be hosted on Gallagher's Facebook page starting at 10am ET (3pm BST). Fans can submit questions now here, using the hashtag #NoelGallagherFBLive.

Back in February, Gallagher's associate Mark Coyle told NME Gallagher had written between 50 to 60 songs for the new record:

"It's pouring out of him and he’s currently whittling it all down into an album. The new record will be seismic. It's so explosive that, on the day it comes out, Virgin Trains won’t be able to cope with all the people trying to flee the chaos."

"Noel's new album is fucking great...That boy is from a different planet, and even the fans won't believe how utterly amazing it is."

Unconfirmed fan reports suggest Gallagher's new single will be released by year's end, with the new album to follow in early 2015.

The 2015 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees have been announced. The Smiths, Lou Reed, Kraftwerk, Sting, Nine Inch Nails, the Spinners, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts are among the nominees. Like the last few years, fans have the opportunity to cast their vote (the online voting results are considered to hold the weight of one ballot -- that ballot will be cast among the 700 other ballots from musicians, artists, music industry types, etc). The inductees will be announced "in the coming weeks" according to the Rock Hall (they usually make the announcement in mid December) and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on April 18th.

The Rock Hall induction committee is unpredictable, so it's hard to imagine which artists will make the cut, but it's a pretty safe bet that Lou Reed gets inducted in 2015. Take a look at the full list of nominees is posted below via USA Today.  Those interested can participate in the online voting here through December 9th.

Earlier this evening, Morrissey played his first show in promotion of World Peace Is None Of Your Business, and first gig since the cancellation of his ill-fated North American tour.  His world tour kicked off in Lisbon, Portugal and, according to fan reports, Morrissey appeared to be in fine form.  Take a look at the setlist (via The Last of the Famous International Playboys) plus watch high quality video of "Asleep" captured at the show -- note the band is decked out in "Fuck Harvest" tees!

The Queen is dead

Certain people I know
The bullfighter dies
Kiss me a lot
Throwing my arms around Paris
World peace is none of your business

Earth is the loneliest planet
Trouble loves me
Kick the bride down the aisle

One day goodbye will be farewell

John Lydon releases his autobiography, Anger is an Energy: My Life Uncensored, on October 9th. Ahead of the release, Lydon spoke with The Star about his memoir.

Most fans already are likely quite familiar with Lydon's lyric "anger is an energy" from Public Image Limited's classic song "Rise," however, many fans may not know the story behind that famous lyric. Lydon revealed in the interview that when he was seven years old he suffered complete memory loss and inability to read and write due to complications from meningitis.  According to Lydon's account, doctors instructed his parents to "keep him angry" in order to help him regain his memory.  Though his memory was eventually restored, he said the entire process was long and left him angry -- his anger became an energy which helped stoke the flames of the Sex Pistols in years to come.

Stream Lydon's interview with The Star below and pre-order Anger Is An Energy: My Life Uncensored through Amazon.
