Brace yourself--NME is searching for the Ultimate Music Icon of the last 60 years

As part of the 60th anniversary celebration of New Musical Express, the magazine has launched a search for the Ultimate Music Icon of the last 60 years. Brace yourself because it is indeed a readers poll, and as history reminds us, these sorts of polls never end well. To get an idea of the trainwreck potential, take a look below at the artists who have made the shortlist. You'll notice that some of the artists listed don't seem to belong on a ballot for a music icon spanning 60 years.
