Donahue - 1984 show on punk

Donahue, always one to cover hard-hitting topics, aired a show on punk back in 1984. Archival video from the show has appeared on You Tube and is posted below. Though the video isn't super high quality, it's watchable, and the audio is clear. Watch the audience get UP IN ARMS about punks, punk outfits, and violent punk concerts. During the program Donahue (of course) brought on a psychologist and a representative from an organization called Parents with Punkers while Rolling Stone's Charles Young (who worked at Musician at the time) attempted to explain/defend punk to some of the clueless folk in the audience.

Bonus: Al Jourgensen from Ministry is one of the punks on stage - he's sitting on the right side onstage rocking a pink/purple outfit. Al is introduced in part 1, doesn't say much in parts 2 & 3, and was asked a question from the audience about "dressing straight" near the end of part 4.
