U2's War - 30th anniversary

U2's album War celebrates its 30th anniversary today!  War, U2's politically charged and critically acclaimed album, was released on February 28th, 1983.  This was the record that helped launch U2 into superstar territory thanks in part to MTV, who aired several videos from the album.  War was U2's first commercial success with four singles ("New Year's Day," "Sunday Bloody Sunday," "Two Hearts Beat As One," and "Surrender") landing in Billboard's Rock chart, and one ("New Year's Day") charting on Billboard's Hot 100.  The cover art features Peter Rowan (Bono's brother's friend, and now a noted photographer), who appeared in the music video for "Two Hearts Beat As One," and was also featured on other U2 releases, including the band's previous album Boy.
