Internet Policy Task Force calls for increased penalties for illegal streaming

The Department of Commerce Internet Policy Task Force in the U.S. released a green paper in July which in part calls for more severe penalties for illegal streaming and suggests the penalty be changed from a misdemeanor to a felony. The 122 page document also tackles some other grey areas of music streaming, licensing, DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act), and related topics like remixing copyrights, orphan recordings, and takedown notices. If internet streaming, licensing, and copyright is interesting to you, you'll find the paper a fascinating read. Access the green paper here (the pdf takes a few moments to load, so be patient).
