Jack White & Neil Young appear on Fallon to discuss 'A Letter Home'

Jack White and Neil Young head to the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Monday, May 12th to discuss Young's new album A Letter Home. The album merits a discussion with the two musical power players for a few reasons: the album is a collection of cover songs (originally by Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and Gordon Lightfoot and more), plus includes Young's cover of Bert Jansch's "Needle of Death," which was the inspiration for Young's classic song "The Needle & the Damage Done." White's involvement with the record makes it that much more interesting -- the album's vintage/lo-fi sound was achieved using the refurbished 1947 Voice-O-Graph booth inside White's recording studio at Third Man Records in Nashville.

Jimmy Fallon has not revealed whether Young and White will perform anything off A Letter Home (the appearance is being billed as an interview), but odds are there will be some sort of performance.

A Letter Home will be released on vinyl, CD, and digital album download on May 27th. Additionally, a limited edition boxed version including a standard CD, standard 12", a 'direct feed from the booth' 12" recording, seven 6" clear vinyl singles, DVD, and download card will also be released May 27th.

Stream "If You Could Read My Mind" (Gordon Lightfoot) and "Needle Of Death" below to get a taste of the lo-fi recording.
