Michael Stipe performing at Moogfest

Michael Stipe will debut a multi-media presentation at this year's Moogfest. According to festival organizers, Stipe's contribution is "an audiovisual exploration of desire and movement and will feature a rare solo composition from the legend himself." Brooklyn Vegan reports Stipe's installation includes video footage he shot over the years, set to a score he composed using Moog gear.

The annual music, art, and technology event takes place May 18th through 21st in Durham, North Carolina and also features 808 State, Derrick May, Survive, Animal Collective, and more. Find out more about Moogfest here.

Stipe's last public (headline) performance took place last year at the David Bowie tribute concert in New York City. He also performed with Patti Smith at the 20th anniversary Democracy Now concert as well as at Smith's birthday concert in December.
