Echo & The Bunnymen's classic self-titled LP released 30 years ago today

Echo & The Bunnymen's self-titled album was released on this day in 1987. The band's fifth studio album was the final record to feature drummer Pete De Freitas, who died in a motorcycle accident in 1989. It was also the last record the Bunnymen released before Ian McCulloch left in 1988 to pursue a solo career (the Bunnymen famously attempted to do the unthinkable by replacing IMac with another vocalist for their next album Reverberation, but realized the error of their ways and broke up after that mishap.)

Echo & The Bunnymen spawned the beloved mega-alterna classic "Lips Like Sugar" though it features equally amazing songs like "Bedbugs And Ballyhoo" (featuring keyboards by the legendary Ray Manzarek), "Lost And Found," "New Direction," "The Game," and really pretty much the entire album. Classic.
