Robert Smith curates 25th anniversary edition of Meltdown

Meltdown is the U.K.'s longest running annual artist-curated festival and this summer marks the 25th anniversary. Over the years, music royalty including David Bowie, Morrissey, Nick Cave, Elvis Costello, David Byrne, Jarvis Cocker have curated Meltdown.

Today organizers unveiled the curator of Meltdown 2018: none other than Robert Smith of The Cure.

Robert Smith states he's up for the challenge and is excited to share his musical taste with the world:

"I am honoured and excited to be curating the 25th Meltdown. More than 30 of my all-time favourite artists – some of the most exciting, inspirational, intense and influential performers of the last 40 years – will make sure this 10-night extravaganza is the must-see event of the summer!"

So far none of the bands for Meltdown 2018 have been announced, but details should be available soon. The festival takes place June 15th through 24th at Southbank Centre in London. Watch the trailer for Meltdown below and read more about the festival here.
