Guitar legend Johnny Marr was born on this day! Let's hope he's not having an unhappy birthday!

Meanwhile, unlike some of the other artists who have been nominated for induction to the 2015 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame (some are even desperately begging their fans to vote for them), Marr really doesn't seem to care much whether the Smiths make it in or not. He told Australian mag Faster Louder:

"I’ve absolutely got no opinion on that because I don’t think anything’s going to happen," Marr admits. "I don’t really trouble myself with conjecture. If it were to happen, I’ll find out but I don’t think anything’s going to happen. It’s not even something that crosses my mind."

Marr released his second solo album Playland in October and is touring to support the record in North America over the next few weeks. Dates for the tour are posted below. Tickets for all dates are on sale now.

The Charlatans return with a new studio album on January 26th. The album, Modern Nature, is the band's first without drummer Jon Brookes, who died in August 2013 from brain cancer. The Charlatans say they were determined to continue making music to honor Brookes' wishes, because he was adamant there should be another Charlatans record. The band headed into the studio at the beginning of the year and recorded the album utilizing three drummers -- Stephen Morris (New Order/Joy Division), Pete Salisbury (The Verve), and Gabriel Gurnsey (Factory Floor).

Two tracks from Modern Nature have premiered so far; "Talking In Tones" and "So Oh," both of which are available to stream below. The album does not yet have a North American release date, however fans interested in obtaining the import can pre-order the standard 11 track album, or deluxe edition (includes four extra tracks) from Piccadilly Records.

Immediately after the news broke, fans rushed to voice hopes that the breakup of Beady Eye will pave the way for a reunion (Ride and/or Oasis).

Then there's this...

Beady Eye released two albums -- Different Gear, Still Speeding (2011), and Be (2013). Neither record was well received by critics, though both records had some great moments.
