Patti Smith stopped by the Canadian show Strombo to chat it up with host George Stroumboulopoulos last week. An edited version of the interview aired on the telecast, but the CBC was nice enough to upload the full version to You Tube. The interview is excellent - Smith shared her philosophy on creating art, discussed religion (explained lyrics to "Gloria"), and revealed her dream of wanting to host a talk show like Johnny Carson. There's even a short clip of Smith singing Debby Boone's "You Light Up My Life." Enjoy the extended interview below.

Patti Smith recently teamed up with Johnny Depp on Depp's pirate collection, Sons Of Rogues Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs & Chanteys. Stream their song "The Mermaid" below and buy the two disc set, which also includes Iggy Pop, Tom Waits, Michael Stipe, Shane Macgowan, Marc Almond, Michael Gira, and more through iTunes or Amazon.
