At long last the Stone Roses returned to the stage tonight to play the first of two "secret" warmup shows in England. Tonight's show was at the intimate Halifax Victoria Theater (capacity ~ 1500), and from all accounts the show was nothing less than magical. The band kicked things off with the anthemic "I Wanna Be Adored," then ripped though a glorious set of classics as well as their new single "All For One." The setlist was solid gold but didn't include too many surprises other than the return of "Begging You," which has been absent from the band's live sets since 1996. And though Reni allegedly revealed that more "beautiful" Stone Roses music is coming soon, apart from "All For One" the Roses didn't debut any new material.

Update: Read the NME's review here; another review is Even The Stars is posted here.

View the official setlist and fan filmed pictures and video below.

The Stone Roses play their second warm up show at Carlisle Sands Theater tomorrow night, then they'll kick off their stadium tour in Manchester on June 15th.
