R.E.M. have now officially announced R.E.M. at the BBC, an expansive 8CD/1DVD set collecting rare and unreleased live and studio BBC recordings. Highlights include a 1984 performance from Nottingham's Rock City, John Peel Session from 1998, invite-only 2004 show in London, and 1999 Glastonbury headline set, and more. The DVD includes a film titled Accelerating Backwards, a 60 minute retrospective on the band which aired in the UK, a complete 1998 Later...With Jools Holland episode dedicated to R.E.M., plus appearance from Top Of The Pops, and more.

An edited edition of the collection will be available on 2CD or 2LP (different tracklistings for CD + LP). All editions arrive on October 19th.
