The film CBGB is set to premiere at the CBGB's Music & Film Festival taking place in New York City October 9th through October 13th. CBGB chronicles the rise and fall of the legendary club that launched Talking Heads, Blondie, the Ramones and more and stars an ensemble cast: Alan Rickman as owner Hilly Kristal, Taylor Hawkins as Iggy Pop, Malin Akerman as Debbie Harry, and Mickey Sumner as Patti Smith.  The screening of CBGB kicks off the five day festival October 9th at the Landmark Theater on East Houston Street and afterwards the feature will open at select theaters in North America. The official trailer for CBGB is scheduled to premiere next week, but for now watch the promo video for the film festival below.  For more on CBGB visit the official site.



The soundtrack to CBGB includes Talking Heads, MC5, the Stooges, Dead Boys, Blondie, and more will be released October 8th. The tracklisting is available to view at the bottom of this post.

The CBGB's Music & Film Festival will screen 40 other films, including the Detroit music scene pic Louder Than Love: The Grande Ballroom Story by Tony D'Annunzio (official site here). A film about Johnny Thunders from the New York Dolls, Looking For Johnny: The Legend of Johnny Thunders is also scheduled to premiere at the festival.
