The definitive band-approved documentary Suede: The Insatiable Ones debuted on Sky Arts in the UK last night. The 113 minute film tells the band's story through archival performance footage, candid interviews with band members (past and present) and other key players that were there along the way (Mike Joyce of The Smiths also appears). Mike Christie, who recently worked on the excellent New Order: Decades, directed the project. Christie goes way back with Suede -- he established a working relationship with the band in 1993 -- and was granted full access to the band's extensive archives.

After last night's premiere Suede announced that Suede: The Insatiable Ones will be released on DVD April 12th. The triple disc DVD will include bonus material not shown on the Sky Arts broadcast including an interview/conversation between Brett Anderson and Peter Saville; drummer Simon Gilbert's personal archive of photos and behind the scenes footage, and more.

Morrissey has now issued his own statement about the fan/stage-rushing incident that took place during his encore in San Diego on November 10th. [The previous statement was from his management, not Morrissey himself.] Besides addressing the media-overblown-non-incident, he revealed the San Diego show was a "dream night" and that he was over the moon about his "outstanding" U.S. tour.

Additionally Carlos Rodriguez, the fan involved in the stage rushing incident, has issued a detailed, heartfelt, and classy statement about the matter and apologized to fellow concertgoers that were deprived of the full encore due to his actions that night.

Read both statements below:

"The only trouble at San Diego were the fictitious reports by TMZ that I had been attacked. This is absolute crap. The concert and the crowd were a dream night for me. I was honored and grateful for such an excited and loving response. It concluded an outstanding set of U.S dates and I am absolutely thrilled. TMZ, alas, live exclusively in a world of their own, and certain sections of the press seem enraged that there is nothing negative to report."

Morrissey

11 November 2018

Official Statement from Carlos Rodriguez:

Hello Moz Fam! I felt the need to write out an official statement about events that occured at the Morrissey concert at the Copley Symphony Hall in San Diego this past Saturday. Especially since there are still media outlets reporting inaccurate details on what took place. My name is Carlos Rodriguez and I was the man in question who made it on stage and past security to hug our beloved Morrissey. First and foremost I would like to apologize to the man Himself El Jefe, Mr. Morrissey for unintentionally being a part of the reason the show was stopped and more so that the media made false claims as to what transpired. I admit that on video it does look aggressive but honestly at that moment I literally was beside myself. Like an out of body experience. It was a rush of energy that I have never felt before. Grant it I am a 40 year old man and was able to move that quickly still is crazy to me. Lol. As I was able to hug the Master he was smiling and laughing. Especially after seeing me headlocked and escorted back to the pit. Thank you for confirming that you were not hit, injured, or attacked. As a loyal fan for the past 20+ years that would be the last thing I would ever want to do or any fan for that matter.

Secondly I would like to apologize to all the fans who were at the show at the Copley Center. It was not my intention nor any of the "stage invaders" to have the show stopped. I have been receiving both support and negative feedback to say the least. More the latter. Lol. And I get it. I understand. Moz was having a great show. His vocals were amazing and the setlist was on point! It was a magical night for everyone. So it to end the way it did I apologize. I do accept partial responsibility but right now it seems Im the posterboy for the show cancellation. So be it. Like all Moz concerts fans reach out and hope to have the opportunity to touch the mans hand, have a record signed, or for some even getting their armed signed, which I tried. Lol. But for the past 30 + years there are those fans that take a chance to get closer, to go in for a hug to show deep appreciation to the man whose songs have saved our lives. Most shows those who make it get their 5 sec hug and escorted back to their spot and the show goes on as is at the Tropicalia fest recently. But unfortunately this event ended differently. My actions as well as those of others with me have tarnished what would have been a perfect evening. Yes it was the encore but I know every fan wants to enjoy all we can. So for that I am deeply sorry.

Lastly for the negative press this has brought upon Moz. Media is always trying to create news or spin stories in order to gain views and likes. Even after refuting stories of being attacked or hurt some media outlets are continuing to report falsely and create nonsense to further their agenda. And no I was not paid to rush the stage so He could stop the show or cancel current tour dates as some idiots reported. And to security I am sorry we put you in that predicament. You were clearly outnumbered and you did the best you could given the circumstances. You did what you had to do to protect our beloved Moz. Again, I hope this clears up all the rumors and such and gives me an opportunity to apologize to all parties involved and help others on the outside to have a glimpse into the World of Morrissey.

VIVA MOZ!!

With Matt Johnson/The The back in action, it was only a matter of time before he'd reunite (again) with Johnny Marr. Tonight was the night! Johnny Marr performed a headline show at London at the Roundhouse earlier tonight and during the encore he brought on a very special guest...the one and only Matt Johnson! Johnson performed a cover of "Summer In The City" - check out fan filmed video below!

Johnny Marr appears on The The's comeback single "We Can't Stop What's Coming" which was released last spring, and has been asked countless times in interviews about reuniting with Johnson. Tonight we can all rest easy knowing it finally happened.

Morrissey has been on the road playing a handful of shows in California and Mexico. Last night the tour rolled through Copley Symphony Hall in San Diego and from fan accounts Morrissey and his band delivered an excellent and on-point performance. Unfortunately for fans the encore was cut short after fans rushed the stage during Moz's performance of "Everyday Is Like Sunday."

It appears from fan-filmed video that it was a typical scenario for the most part: Morrissey was singing, fans were running on stage, and he was taking it all in stride -- he is well accustomed to stage rushers/huggers over the years -- until an unusually aggressive fan rushed the stage, was apprehended by security and Moz was ushered off the stage, thus ending the show.

Though the unschooled media is trying to claim Moz was attacked and a punch was thrown, Morrissey's management refutes those claims, calling it a typical scenario of fans merely wanting to get closer to the legend. The alleged fan in question, Carlos Rodriguez, also confirmed on FB that his intentions were only out of love and passion for Morrissey, making this essentially a non-story, but for ambulance-chasing TMZ and their slow news day.

View video of the encore along with the official Moz statement below.

In the middle of the session host Cheryl Waters displayed her interview chops by teasing out interesting and informative nuggets from Marr plus avoided badgering him with tired and awkward Smiths reunion questions.
