He also says that the songs are all new--there are no leftovers from the With Teeth sessions. He went on to say that the new material is "highly conceptual" and "quite noisy." There is no official release date for the cd yet.

The Stooges will return with a new record in 2007. The Weirdness will drop in stores on March 20th.

Here's the press release with much more info:

Reunion albums are one thing. A Stooges reunion album is something else entirely.

On March 20, 2007, the band that predated punk and helped make rock and roll dangerous will release their first studio album since 1973’s seminal Raw Power. The Weirdness will feature three of the four original bandmembers – singer Iggy Pop, guitarist Ron Asheton and drummer Scott Asheton -- along with ex-Minutemen and fIREHOSE bassist Mike Watt and original Stooges sax player, Steve Mackay.

The Stooges wrote over 30 songs for the record at a cottage in Florida early this year, then rehearsed in Ann Arbor, Michigan before they entered the Chicago studio of esteemed producer Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies) in early October. The album is being mastered in the UK at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. Tracks on the album include: "Trollin'," "Greedy Awful People," "Claustrophobia," "Mexican Guy," "I'm Fried," "ATM," "O Solo Mio," "She Took My Money" and "End Of Christianity."

Iggy decided to reform The Stooges in 2003 while he was working on his solo album Skull Ring. He called the Ashetons, who still had the same phone number he had last called them on 25 years ago. The brothers agreed to contribute to four songs on the disc and the reunion seeds were planted. Then on April 27, the full band (with Watt on bass) played its first show together in 30 years to a spellbound audience at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Coachella, California.A triumphant reunion tour followed, and in 2005 The Stooges were nominated to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They didn’t win, but were recently nominated again for induction at the upcoming ceremony to be held in early 2007.

If any rock band deserved Hall of Fame kudos it’s The Stooges, one of the most influential, powerful and explosive outfits ever to plug in a guitar. Formed in Ann Arbor in 1967, the Stooges were a forceful poke in the eye of commercial rock. Volatile and incendiary, the band wrote grimy psychedelic blues songs that grooved, droned and stomped in equal measure. Onstage, Iggy was commanding and menacing, cutting himself with glass, smearing his body with peanut butter and baiting the crowd out of its complacency.

The group’s volcanic energy earned it a record deal in 1968 and a year later, the Stooges released their self-titled debut, which featured the proto-punk classics “I Wanna Be Your Dog,” “No Fun” and “1969.” In 1970, they followed with the heavier, more confrontational Fun House, which many consider the band’s finest hour. Three years would pass between Fun House and Raw Power, a primal, powerful slab of gyrating clamor from a band on the verge of physical and psychological collapse.By the end of 1973, the Stooges had broken up. In the decades that followed, Iggy established himself as a successful solo artist, releasing 15 studio albums between 1977 and 2003. Meanwhile, Scott Asheton played in Scot’s Pirates, Sonny Vincent’s Rat Race Choir and Rock Action and Ron Asheton rocked with Destroy All Monsters, the New Race, the Empty Set and Dark Carnival. In 1998, Ron joined forces with Watt and members of Mudhoney and Sonic Youth in the one-off supergroup Wylde Ratttz, an experience that paved the way for Watt to join The Stooges.

One of the most eagerly anticipated albums of 2007, The Weirdness is destined to be as inspiring, unpredictable and undeniable as the three records that preceded it over three decades ago. The release of the album will be followed by a full world tour that will clearly display the energy, vitality and freshness of one of rock and roll’s greatest success stories. In other words, the legacy continues…

David Gahan is all bummed out that people in the U.K. just don't give Depeche Mode any props.

He tells The Sun, “I don’t get it. We’re a band that has come out of England, lasted and done well. But no one seems to notice and it does hurt.

“It’s a struggle here to get recognition for what we’ve achieved. We’re that oddball band that people don’t know how to categorise. We don’t fit the rock category and are not pop.”

One of the original members of Duran Duran is out of the band. Here's the official statement from Duran Duran regarding Andy Taylor's exit:

A Message to our Fans

To Our Fans

We know that there has been a tremendous amount of speculation over the past few weeks regarding Andy Taylor's continued involvement with the band and we are sorry that we've been unable to provide you with more information until now.

The past five years have been an incredible journey for us all - and having the original five back together was something that we had wanted to see happen for some time. As of last weekend, however, the four of us have dissolved our partnership and will be continuing as Duran Duran without Andy, as we have reached a point in our relationship with him where there is an unworkable gulf between us and we can no longer effectively function together.

Although obviously disappointed and saddened about this, we are excited about the next chapter of the Duran Duran story and look forward to seeing you all soon.

A live Radiohead dvd is in the works. The band taped their performance at this summer's Bonnaroo festival, and they are planning to turn that into a dvd. Since the band played a couple of new songs during their Bonnaroo set, Thom Yorke said the dvd will most likely come out after the band's brand new cd. The new cd is expected out early next year.
Two new Portishead songs have been posted on the band's official myspace page. The band is busy working on album number three, which is expected to be released sometime next year.

Jack White's home in Indian Village is up for sale. The 4 bedroom colonial was built in 1914 for a prominent attorney and was later owned by actress Ann Harding. Now, this piece of Detroit history could be yours for only $930,000! The nearly 6,000 square foot home on Seminole has 4 bedrooms, a library/study, a sunroom, a laundry room with black and white checkered tiling, and--here's the best part--a Secret Garden!!!! You can read up on the rich history of the house and view pictures right here.

Be warned! Apparently you have to be "pre-approved" before they will show the house to you. From the listing: "PLEASE NOTE: This home is shown exclusively by appointment to pre-approved buyers only. Listing agent must be present for all showings. Parties interested in viewing the home should fax pre-approvals or proof of funds to the fax number listed below."
If you grew up in the 80's and enjoyed films from John Hughes (the Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, etc), you are going to be excited about this. A new film titled, Don't You Forget About Me, is in the works. If you've seen the Breakfast Club, I'm sure I don't need to tell you that the 90 minute documentary takes its name from the Simple Minds song that was featured in the classic film. Don't You Forget About Me (the movie) examines teen high school movies from the 70's and especially the 80's, and tries to explain why these movies helped shape a generation. To make it even more interesting, many of the actors that appeared in these films were interviewed for the documentary (alas, it looks as if there will be no Molly Ringwald), and Simple Minds were also included.

Click here to read more about the movie. I think this statement from the movie's website sums up the magic of John Hughes: "Hughes didn't show how high school was, but how high school felt." Indeed. I can't wait to see this documentary. No release date has been set yet, but we'll keep you posted.
Duran Duran will head back into the recording studio to complete work on a new studio cd. The cd is expected to be released in February or March of next year.

In more Duran Duran news, the band is getting ready to enter the virtual world! Each member of the band will have a character in the Second Life virtual world. I'm not well versed in virtual world happenings, however I have been assured that this is a big deal because they will become the first major band to do this. Duran also has plans to play a virtual concert on the web in a couple of months.

Here's the article from Billboard:

Veteran British pop/rock outfit Duran Duran has no desire to slow down. Despite cruising well past its 25th anniversary as a recording entity, the members of the quintet are raring to hit the road again. Speaking from his villa in France, keyboardist Nick Rhodes tells Billboard.com the band will give total support to its forthcoming album, due in February or March via Epic.

"For us we found that since we got back together, not only have the live shows been a great joy for us, but since we notched up another 50 or 60 under our belt, we got back to the stage where it was really a well-oiled machine again," Rhodes says.

"If you don't play live for six months, nine months or a year even, you lose your efficiency," he continues. We promised ourselves that we would keep trying to play shows even when we hadn't got new things to promote."

At deadline, the only live dates on tap are a Sept. 23 in Warsaw, Poland, Oct. 29 at the Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans and Nov. 11 at the Bang! Festival in Miami. In November and December, Duran Duran will apply the finishing touches to the as-yet-untitled new album, which is the follow-up to 2004's "Astronaut" (Epic). The set has sold has two million copies worldwide, according to a spokesperson.

"We have got a couple which definitely sound like contenders [for singles] so far, but I like to get everything finished so that we can take an objective view," Rhodes adds. "I listened to Marvin Gaye recently. It made me realize how beautiful some songs from that period can be. It gave me a few ideas, that's for sure."

In the meantime, online gamers will get the chance to catch the band in cyberspace. Beginning next month, each Duran Duran member will immerse their own character, or avatar, in the Second Life virtual world, becoming the first major band to do so. "When I first saw the Second Life site," says Rhodes, "It was a real epiphany for me." The group is aiming to perform their first virtual concert in the coming months.

Nope, it's not a joke. Johnny Marr has joined Modest Mouse. He's a real member and everything! Here's the report from Rolling Stone magazine:

We’ve known for a while that Modest Mouse leader Isaac Brock and former Smiths guitarist/genius Johnny Marr were collaborating on MM’s next record. But guess what? Marr is now officially a full-on member of Modest Mouse, Brock recently told us. According to Brock, Marr’s membership is so unequivocal, he will tour with MM in support of their next record, tentatively titled We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank and tentatively due this fall. “He made a cautious commitment to write and record with us, and then the tighter we got, he was like, ‘okay, let’s tour too,’” Brock said. “Then he was pretty much a member of the band - not pretty much. He’s a full blown member of the band. It’s really...nice.”

Some backstory: When it came time to start work on the follow-up to 2004’s indie-rock marvel Good News for People Who Love Bad News, Brock found himself sans guitarist and enlisted Marr to help write and record. “I took a long shot really,” says Brock. “I was like, ‘You know, I really like that guy’s guitar playing. There’s no chance in hell he’s going to say yes, but why not give him a call?’ So I did.” Maybe Morrissey should borrow Brock’s little black book? “Eventually it all came together, and it was a really good fit, which I think actually surprised all of us,” Brock recalled. Finally, Marr, Brock and co. went down to Sweet Tea studios in Mississippi (the same joint where Good News was recorded) to lay down tracks for We Were Dead, which Brock describes as a nautical balalaika carnival romp. So what’s the gist? Get ready to have your mind blown by Modest Marr’s crazy-dark sailors-and-gypsies whimsy.

A Velvet Underground documentary that was filmed in 1986 has been posted on You Tube. Clicky clicky.
Oasis will release Stop the Clocks, an 18-track double cd filled with the band's greatest hits, on November 21st. While the tracklisting isn't officially official, Noel Gallagher reportedly told the British paper, the Sun, what songs will make it to the collection. Hmmm...I hope this list is bogus, because "She's Electric", "Married With Children" and "Morning Glory" are not on the list! Oh bother. You can read the article here, or if you're too lazy to click on over, here's the alleged list of songs that the newspaper claims Noel wants on the compilation:

Don't Look Back In Anger
D'You Know What I Mean?
All Around The World
Go Let It Out
The Hindu Times
The Importance Of Being Idle
Half The World Away
Champagne Supernova

Aaron Spelling, the legendary television producer, died last night at the age of 83. Spelling suffered a stroke on Tuesday, and he died from complications from the stroke yesterday.

Spelling was famous for producing hit tv shows. His work spanned decades. Some of the highlights from the 70's include Starsky & Hutch and Charlie's Angels. In the 80's he gave us the Love Boat, Fantasy Island, and trashy fashioned Dynasty! Then in the 90's he brought us Beverly Hills 90210 (starring his daughter, Tori) and Melrose Place.

He produced over 100 movies, including the legendary John Travolta film from 1976, Boy In The Plastic Bubble.

Ex-Verve frontman, Richard Ashcroft, was arrested monday in Manchester, England. Apparently he busted into a youth club and demanded to work with the teens that were there. When Ashcroft wouldn't leave The Bridge Club, the staff called the cops and they arrested Ashcroft and took him away. He ended up paying a fine (about 150 dollars) for disorderly behavior.

Here's the Sun's version of events:

RICHARD ASHCROFT was arrested after bursting into a youth club and demanding to work with the baffled teens.

Witnesses say the former VERVE frontman appeared drunk and looked like a tramp as he began swearing and refusing to leave.

Staff called cops and Ashcroft was taken into custody for a couple of hours, then given an £80 fixed penalty fine for disorderly behaviour and released.

One eyewitness told me: “He was very strung out and close to tears at one point. He kept saying he wanted to work with kids, that he wanted to do ‘good things’.

“He wasn’t aggressive, in fact he was quite charming and friendly. He kept hugging some staff and kids.“But when the police arrived he was almost begging to be arrested. They told him to go quietly but he wouldn’t.”

The singer, famous for songs like The Drugs Don’t Work and who earned the nickname “Mad Richard” during his Verve heyday, entered The Bridge club in Chippenham, Wilts, just before 8pm on Monday.

The club is near where his wife Kate’s family live.

Around 60 youngsters in their early teens were relaxing and playing games when he arrived.

The witness said: “It was surreal and we couldn’t believe it at first. He looked like a tramp. He was dishevelled and unshaven, with filthy clothes, and there was saliva caked around his mouth.

“He was off his head, although he wasn’t slurring his words. One of the staff said, ‘You’re the spitting image of Richard Ashcroft’. And he said, ‘That’s because I am.’

“When they asked what he was doing there he said, ‘I’ve just come to see the kids. I want to see what’s going on in the youth club.’”

Ashcroft then announced he would like to work with the youngsters but the woman in charge of the club told him he would have to go through the proper channels.

The insider added: “He kept swearing and saying, ‘I’m Richard, I’m going to be doing some youth work here. You’ll be seeing a lot more of me, this is my first night.’ The woman was getting more and more anxious and rang her boss and I think he told her to call the police.”

Ashcroft then slumped on a sofa and the kids gathered around and asked him: “Are you really a rock star?”

When a lone police officer arrived, the star was seen arguing with him outside. The insider said: “He started getting aggressive towards the policeman and was swearing and asking him what his ‘f***ing problem’ was. The officer called for back-up and a patrol car arrived and took him away.”

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said Ashcroft was arrested for a public order offence and taken into custody.A police source added: “It looked like he was drunk. He was discharged once he had calmed down.”

Black's tour kicks off in August and he's taking the whole family along with him. His wife and 4 kids will be riding in the tour bus with him. So far, a Detroit date has not been scheduled for the tour.

Chalk one up for the White Stripes. They successfully defeated their old producer Jim Diamond in court this week. Yesterday the case went to the jury, and after all was said and done, the jury only deliberated 20 minutes before reaching their unanimous verdict. White Stripes 1, Jim Diamond 0. Hours later, Jack White was seen sipping cool, celebratory cocktails at the Town Pump.

Here's the official statement from the White Stripes:

"This was a classic shakedown. They expected us to settle but we refused to back down. It took the jury less than 20 minutes to figure out what this case was really about. This decision protects musicians and original authors of copyright from opportunists trying to take advantage of hard working, creative artists in the community. We are grateful the jury saw through Diamond's claims and ruled accordingly."

Here's a report from the Associated Press:

DETROIT - A federal jury ruled Thursday that the White Stripes don't have to share royalties with a producer who worked on the rock band's first two albums and claimed he played a pivotal role in creating its signature sound.

The eight-member panel deliberated about 20 minutes before returning its verdict in U.S. District Court, rejecting claims by Jim Diamond, who is listed as co-producer on the band's self-titled first album, released in 1999.

Diamond also is listed as sound mixer on "De Stijl," released in 2000, but the White Stripes denied that he helped create their style. The band said it had paid him $35 an hour for time at his Ghetto Recorders studio.

Jack White, singer and guitarist for the two-member band, told The Detroit News outside court he was pleased with the verdict, noting: "You never know what's going to happen in a trial."
A message seeking comment was left Thursday afternoon for Stephen Wasinger, a lawyer for Diamond.

The lawsuit trial before U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn started Monday.

Earlier Thursday, with Jack White and White Stripes drummer Meg White looking on, lawyer Bert Deixler argued that Diamond's engineering work on the records did not meet the standard for authorship.

"None of that constitutes originating an original work or causing it to come into being," Deixler said.

Wasinger, arguing for Diamond, cited liner notes from the 1999 album in which the band gave Diamond co-producer credit.

"Mr. Diamond at that time, in that place, was equally talented," Wasinger told the jury.

The copyright trial involving the White Stripes is getting ready to wrap up. Closing arguments are scheduled for tomorrow and the jury will probably get the case on Friday. If you haven't been keeping track at home, Jim Diamond worked on two cds for the White Stripes and was credited as being "co-producer." Diamond is alleging that he was the one that created the band's sound--the sound that made them famous--so he feels he is due royalties. He filed a civil suit in federal court. The trial kicked off Monday in Detroit.

Jack White and Meg White both testified in their own behalf. From all accounts they both did a wonderful job representing themselves. In addition to Diamond testifying, the plantiff's side called in Jason Stollsteimer from the Von Bondies. Remember the brawl between Jack White and Stollsteimer a couple of years ago? Well, the jury got to hear all about it this week. By the way, the jury is comprised of 8 people, all Caucasian and none of them are seemingly hip to the "garage" sound. It'll be interesting to see how this one turns out.

Here's the piece that ran in today's Detroit News:

Brawl recounted in lawsuit over royalties from White Stripes recordings

Jack White, Von Bondies singer's testimony offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Detroit music scene.

by Paul Egan - The Detroit News - 14 June 2006

DETROIT -- A federal jury got a peek at the gritty world of Detroit's garage rock bands Tuesday as both members of the White Stripes and the lead singer of the Von Bondies all testified in a civil lawsuit over royalties.

Jack White of the White Stripes and Jason Stollsteimer of the Von Bondies testified about their brawl inside Detroit's Magic Stick nightclub in 2003, and Stollsteimer told about finding an unusual message from White attached to his front door."I found a note stuck to my door with a knife in it," Stollsteimer told a jury and U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn.

Under the knife was a copy of a magazine interview in which White felt Stollsteimer slighted him by minimizing the help he gave in producing a Von Bondies album. "That's the last time I help you out," Stollsteimer said the profanity-laced message scrawled across the article said.

Earlier, in his own testimony, White said the idea that he stuck a knife in Stollsteimer's door was "a laughable lie."Much of the testimony had little direct relevance to the lawsuit, in which Metro Detroit producer Jim Diamond of Ghetto Recorders is suing the White Stripes, alleging he played a pivotal role in creating the group's early recordings and demanding royalties.

Asked if he recalled telling Diamond he would ruin his reputation in the music industry if he brought the lawsuit, White testified: "I believe I said this was going to ruin his reputation, if he did something like this."

White wore a black pinstripe suit, black shirt, black tie and a black fedora with a tiny red feather in it.

Stollsteimer testified it was about two years after he found the knife in his door that Jack White attacked him at the Magic Stick in Detroit."We fought each other," White said in his testimony. "I claimed he pulled my hair out and was punching me."

White pleaded guilty in 2004 to misdemeanor assault and battery in connection with the incident.Diamond is listed as co-producer of the White Stripe's self-titled first album in 1999 and as sound mixer on the group's second album, "De Stijl," in 2000.

Meg White, the White Stripes' drummer, testified that although the first album listed Diamond as co-producer, he really was not, and credit for producing belonged solely to Jack White. Diamond was paid $35 an hour for his work on the first album, which is all he was owed, she testified.

Thom Yorke's debut solo cd, The Eraser, is set to drop on July 11th. You can check out some samples from the cd here.

Don't worry...Radiohead isn't breaking up. They are doing a short U.S. tour this month, and then they're going back home to finish working on their new cd. They are expected to launch a full scale U.S. tour next year after the cd's release.

Social Distortion is busy working on the follow up to Sex, Love and Rock N Roll. Their new cd won't be out until some time next year, but in July the band is going to road test some of their new songs while on a short tour of the west coast. You may find this marginally funny. It's a video of a stand up comic performing his very special interpretation of the history of dance. Yep, he dances to Elvis, Michael Jackson, the Bee Gees, Vanilla Ice, McHammer and more.
Here's the link to the site I was talking about on the air. It's an interesting music blog with samples of mp3's. You can check out outtakes from Morrissey's Viva Hate cd, plus there's also material from the Cure, the Clash and other stuff. Just scroll around.

According to the blog, they only keep the songs they've posted on the site for 2-7 days, so jump on it.

**Download/sample at your own risk...I am absolved of all blame if the RIAA comes a-knockin'.

Jack White has apparently struck back at "fans" that have disparaged him for creating a Coca-Cola jingle. According to gigwise.com, White is quoted as saying, “they (fans) assume someone drove up to my house with a truck full of money and a gun to my head, and said, 'Crack open a Coke on television and give the thumbs up.' That's not what happened. I saw a beautiful ad, and I wrote a song for it because I was inspired by it."

In more Jack White related news...the Raconteurs will release their debut cd, Broken Boy Soldiers tomorrow! Thursday night they are scheduled to perform on Conan O'Brien's show, so dust off the Tivo.

Sunday, May 14, 2006

Thom Yorke from Radiohead is going to release a solo record in July. The Eraser is reportedly going to drop in July, however it is unclear who is going to put out the release. It may be released on XL, but it may also turn up as a download only release. Eraser was written entirely by Yorke, and he also played all the instruments on the cd. Yorke said, "it was fun and quick to do. Inevitably it is more beats and electronics...yes, it's a record. No, it's not a Radiohead record. It was all done with their blessing." Read more about the cd here.

Oh, and there's a glimmer of hope for Radiohead fans in the Detroit area! The band is going to tour next year after their full length cd is released. So they may be in the area then. Like I said, it's a glimmer of hope.

The Replacements collection, Don't You Know Who I Think I Was? The Best Of The Replacements, drops on June 13th. The cd compiles 18 of the band's greatest songs, but this collection is unlike others that are available in that songs from both the Twin/Tone and Sire/Reprise eras are included. Plus there are 2 new songs that the band recorded at the end of last year. The two new songs titles are: "Message To The Boys" and "Pool & Dive." Check out rhino's official website to hear a sample of all of the songs on the compilation, including the two new songs!

A documentary chronicling the life and times of Joe Strummer will be released on dvd at the end of June. Strummer's long time friend, Dick Rude was heavily involved with the dvd. If you like Ride, this is a really good compilation to get. It's the greatest hits double cd that they released back in 2002. These days, Mark Gardener (ex-singer of Ride) is getting ready to release his debut solo cd, These Beautiful Ghosts. You can check out his official website, www.markgardener.com
but don't check out this one with the different spelling, www.markgardiner.com, since that is someone totally different.
Turns out the previous report regarding the Roxy Music reunion is WRONG. Eno is not going to be taking part in the reunion. Enoweb says that the journalists (and the official Roxy Music website that also reported that Eno would be back in the fold) had it wrong and that it was wishful thinking on their part. Eno says he will have no involvement with Roxy's new cd or upcoming tour.

Thursday, March 23, 2006

Trent Reznor and some of the ex-members of Nine Inch Nails have been feuding on the net. You can catch a blurbs of the interview by ex-drummer Jerome Dillon that started it all, plus subsequent barbs here.

NIN & Bauhaus will take over DTE on June 25th. There's an internet presale scheduled for March 29th, but that's for fanclub members only. The rest of the tickets will go on sale to the public on April 1st. Get your tickets early, you DO NOT want to miss this fine show!

Saturday, March 18, 2006

Roxy Music is gearing up for a reunion! And to make it even sweeter, Brian Eno has agreed to take part. Original members Bryan Ferry, Andy Mackay, Phil Manzanera, Paul Thomson and yes, Brian Eno will all be together again for the first time since 1973. Roxy reunited a couple of years ago, but Eno was too busy in the studio working as a producer to be able to take part. This time around Eno has cleared his schedule and is working with the other members of the band on a new Roxy cd. They will do some festival dates, but it is unclear whether there will be a full-scale tour of North America.

Sunday, March 12, 2006

A Pixies documentary is premiering today at the South By Southwest Music Fesival in Austin, Texas. LoudQuietLoud will also be shown 2 other days this week at the festival. The film follows the band around while they were on the road for their 2004 reunion tour. The film's director, Steven Cantor revealed in an interview with Billboard magazine that the bandmembers pretty much kept to themselves while on the road, and spent most of their time in their separate hotel rooms reading. Cantor told Billboard, "I feel like 75% of the reason for the reunion was for money, but the other 25% was because of the fact that they're legends." The documentary is not currently scheduled for a theatrical release.

Oh, and there will be another Pixies tour this summer. Dates haven't been released yet, so stay tuned.

Meanwhile, Frank Black is gearing up to release a new solo cd. Fastman/Raiderman is a double disc set that features 27 songs. Look for it to hit stores on June 20th.
Morrissey is getting ready to drop his 8th solo cd, Ringleader of the Tormentors, on April 4th. Apparently enterprising fans decided the cat needed to be let out of the bag sooner than the official release date, so the cd has been leaked on the net. The new cd actually has copy protection software on it, but the promotional copies don't contain that software so apparently it is easy to rip the cd to the mp3 format. (Uh, don't look at me. It wasn't me. Honest.) Anyway, the new Moz cd contains 12 new songs and the best song title of all is "Life Is A Pig Sty." Leave it to Morrissey.

Coming March 28th--some Cure reissues. Last year Rhino Records reissued four Cure cds: Three Imaginary Boys, Seventeen Seconds, Faith, and Pornograpy were all reissued as double cds replete with bonus tracks and other goodies. Apparently this year the band decided to pare down the reissues and put out a single disc version of each of these cds. So this time around, the cds won't include any bonus tracks but there will be new artwork, and yes, they will be somewhat cheaper. Look for the new batch of reissues on March 28th. And, later in the year the Cure will reissue The Head On The Door and Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, but there's no word yet on whether these will be souped up double deluxe cds or single cds with new artwork.
