Morrissey announced the release of a 7 inch version of "That's Entertainment."

Peter Hook + The Light covered a live version of the New Order rarity "Homage."

Hook and his band dusted off the unreleased Movement-era New Order track and performed it live yesterday (August 30th) during a John Peel tribute concert. The socially distant tribute was held yesterday to celebrate what would have been John Peel's 81st birthday. Hook revealed that New Order originally planned to perform "Homage" as part of their 1981 Peel Session, though they decided against it at the last minute.

Classic Alternative - Episode #171: Depth Of Insincerity

Friday, August 28, 2020

ReMission International released the 2020 version of "Tower Of Strength" ("TOS2020") today.

The 1995 War Child charity album Help will be re-released to mark its 25th anniversary.

The album features a stunning array of UK artists including The Stone Roses, Radiohead, The Charlatans, The Boo Radleys, Blur, Suede, Oasis, Portishead, Sinéad O'Connor, and The Smokin' Mojo Filters (aka Paul McCartney, Paul Weller, and Noel Gallagher) among others.

The legendary compilation was inspired by John Lennon's quote:

"The best record you can make, is recorded on Monday, cut on Tuesday, pressed up on Wednesday, packaged on Thursday, distributed on Friday, in the shops on Saturday."

Inspired, participating artists went into studios all over Europe on September 4th and within 24 hours 20 tracks were recorded. Help came together so quickly that the artwork for the album did not contain a tracklisting because at the time organizers didn't know which songs and artists would completed in time.

Recording began September 4th and only days later, September 9th, the album went on sale in shops and sold 70,000 copies that day. The compilation raised over 2 million dollars and launched War Child, which protects, educates, and supports children in war. To date the charity has aided over a million children caught in the crossfire of war.

The album will be reissued September 9th -- 25 years to the day of the original release physically on black vinyl and digitally on streaming services. Along with the original material, the 2020 version of Help will include a newly recorded version of The Smokin' Mojo Filters (McCartney, Weller, and Gallagher) covering The Beatles classic "Come Together."

View the tracklisting for the original Help release below and learn more about War Child here.

The video was created by Justin Harwood (ex-Luna bassist) using iPhone footage shot by band members.
