Book Of Love announced plans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut album MMXVI. On July 1st, they'll release a new compilation album MMXVI - Book Of Love - The 30th Anniversary Collection, featuring newly remastered versions of Book Of Love's greatest hits along with previously unreleased demos and two brand new songs. The new material is the band's first new material in over 15 years -- their last new song "Try" was released in 2001 on their greatest hits collection I Touch Roses: The Best Of Book Of Love. So far pre-orders and the tracklisting for MMXVI - Book Of Love - The 30th Anniversary Collection have not been announced.

All four original members of Book Of Love (Ted Ottaviano, Susan Ottaviano, Jade Lee and Lauren Roselli) head out on the road to celebrate the release of the new album this summer. The band announced a 30th anniversary show in New York City to coincide with the release of new album, plus they've announced a handful of other U.S. shows. Aside from their recent May 20th gig in Chicago, these performances are the first shows to include all four original members since 2009 (the band performed a few one-off shows in 2013, however keyboardist Jade Lee was unavailable to participate at that time).

Ted Ottaviano confirms that though the band has written a few new songs, they'll be focusing on their old material, at least for the time being. He told webzine Chaos Control:

"What was really important to me was to go back and honor our music and our catalog. I had no problem writing new songs for it, but that [going back] was the goal. When the possibility of writing a new album surfaced, I had the mindset that we would write a new album when we felt like it...there’s no label or record deal that is being held over our heads where we almost have to, for better or worse, answer to any kind of boundary or timeline on anything. So we just go as we please."

Read the full interview with Ottaviano here.

Confirmed dates for the Book Of Love tour are posted below. More dates are expected to be announced soon.

Kraftwerk are in town to headline Movement at Hart Plaza in Detroit tonight!  Fans also will have another opportunity to catch the German legends in the flesh after the show. According to reports, Kraftwerk will attend a Movement afterparty happening at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (aka MOCAD). Juan Atkins and Salar Ansari performing at tonight's event at the MOCAD which celebrates the 30th anniversary of Derrick May's label Transmat. More info about the afterparty is posted here.  Tickets are available in advance here.

It shouldn't be too much of a surprise that Kraftwerk will be hobnobbing with techno royalty at MOCAD tonight. When Kraftwerk performed in Detroit back in October they hung out and spun with the Belleville 3 (Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, and Derrick May) at MOCAD's afterparty. Here's some video & photographic proof of that awesomeness!

A David Bowie ballet tribute is set to make its world premiere at Music Hall in Detroit on Saturday June 18th!  Music Hall Commissions a World Premiere -- A Tribute to David Bowie by Complexions Contemporary Ballet is a rapturous theatrical homage to the legend and innovator.  Described as a Rock Opera-like production, the ballet interprets four decades of Bowie's iconic music with the help of artistic directors Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson.

According to the official press release from Music Hall:

"This new work takes an array of his hits over these 4 decades and lays a visual imprint of his - style, character, intensity, androgyny and his restless invention as an artist and creates a Rock Opera style production in his honor. The ballet takes the rebel spirit and creates an environment with a deft theatricality shaded with a luminous palette - that chronicles the heart of each song through dance wrought with emotion. The ballet will play from section to section like a rich tapestry that shows Bowie’s ability to conquer virtually any musical notion with ease. Conveyed with a loose narrative and a movement vocabulary that uses Contemporary Ballet, popular dance vernaculars, his singular idiosyncrasies and Inspirations from Bowie’s many personas, this premiere sets out to deliver a smooth, high voltage romp to highlight his truly original legacy."

The event will also feature the music of Metallica.

Gimme Danger, the new documentary about the Stooges, premiered at Cannes on Friday. The film, directed by Jim Jarmusch, pays tribute to the Stooges and tells their story through new footage and previously unseen photos.

Iggy Pop was on hand for the premiere and took part in a question and answer session.  During the talk he discussed music and technology, revealing he's not a fan of electronic music and the digital music age:

"The digital age has made collecting money so incredibly efficient. When we started our band we didn’t know what publishing was. Now you can push a button and get rich quick."

Iggy also admitted to doing copious amounts of drugs back in the day, but he's since cut all that out and suggests others do the same:

"Drugs...everybody should just drop that shit.  For me, the best is a very good wine, but weed is OK for most people."

So far a North American premiere date for Gimme Danger has not been announced.

Meanwhile, as previously reported a new book about the Stooges titled Total Chaos, will be released later this year via Third Man Books. Pre-order info is expected to be announced shortly.

An Oasis-approved documentary about the band's early days will see a theatrical release in the U.K. this October.  Supersonic chronicles the band's meteoric rise to fame from its first single "Supersonic" up through 1996's massive Knebworth gigs. The film was directed by Mat Whitecross; James Gay Rees and Asif Kapadia, the creative team behind the Amy Winehouse documentary Amy are also on board serving as producer and executive producer respectively.  The team is still in search of vintage Oasis photos and video (pre-1997), which can be submitted to the address listed here. So far a theatrical premiere for Supersonic in North America has not been announced.

Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher has revealed on Twitter that he's up to something exciting. Today he tweeted that it's "time to get back in the ring," then posted three short videos of himself.  What does it all mean?!?  Watch below and decide for yourself:

Richard Ashcroft is about to release his new solo album These People on May 20th. The ex-Verve leader has previously issued "This Is How It Feels" and "Hold On" from the album, and today Ashcroft shared the low budget (and somewhat awkward) official video for "Hold On" which is available to view below.

On April 21st Ashcroft performed a live session for BBC 2. He performed his new singles "This Is How It Feels" and "Hold On," plus performed "Lucky Man" and "Bittersweet Symphony." Stream the glorious acoustic version of "This Is How It Feels" featuring Ashcroft covering Prince's "Purple Rain" near the end -- the session took place only hours news broke about Prince's death.

During the interview portion of the session it was clear that Ashcroft believes he is on a creative high -- he's excited to create new music and is looking forward to releasing his new album and going on tour to promote it. He said he's ALL about playing fan favorites and also revealed that he hopes to release an acoustic album someday.

Vince Clarke (Depeche Mode, Yaz, Erasure) and Orbital's Paul Hartnoll teamed up for a collaborative new album. The album, titled 2Square, is considered Home House, a sub genre of electronic music. 2Square will be released June 10th via Clarke's new download only label VeryRecords, which he launched earlier this year. Here's what to expect, according to the press release from VeryRecords:

"2Square is an electronic mish-mash of cut-up vocals, infectious house grooves and blippy, distorted synths; a weird union of Orbital Rave and Erasure Pop. From the atmospheric journey of intricate poly rhythms and mournful vocals featured in ‘The Echoes’ to precision machine rhythm underpinning a zany trumpet in ‘Do-A-Bong’, 2Square is an infectious Home House odyssey that will induce toe-tapping in all and even inspire some to get off their sofas to dance."

Matt Johnson of The The did NOT disappoint at today's Radio Cineola broadcast. As promised, Johnson spent a good portion of the show discussing inertia and procrastination. He also took calls via Skype, and several musical guests including Tom Bright and Liz Horsman performed The The songs. But Johnson saved the very best for last -- he performed a breathtaking new The The song titled "We Can't Stop What's Coming." Earlier in the program he said he might (or might not) perform , but after overwhelming requests from fans worldwide, Johnson debuted the soulful, powerful, and inspirational track. Despite inertia and procrastination, Johnson proved he is still functioning creatively as ever. Truly Johnson's performance was impressive and brilliant.

Unfortunately for those who weren't listening, the archive of the show has not yet appeared online. It also seems that archives of previous Radio Cineola broadcasts are not online, which means those interested in hearing the song may be out of luck for the time being. On the other hand, The The fans have been pleading with Johnson on social media to post the broadcast and/or song, so it is very possible he'll eventually surrender to the will of the people and upload it soon. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: The archive of the broadcast will NOT be uploaded. However according to a posting on The The's website a documentary about The The which will include footage/audio of the broadcast is in the works:

"We've had hundreds of messages from people who missed the show and who are asking us to replay the 3 hour live broadcast again but the show was a one-off.

We tried hard to alert people with our dozens of posts via social media and our mailing list but it seems many were still unaware.

The 12 hour and 3 hour broadcasts were actually filmed for a documentary about THE THE so at some point in the near future you will certainly be able to see and hear at least part of these broadcasts."

View some pictures from today's broadcast below:

Today Matt Johnson of The The is holding a Radio Cineola live broadcast this afternoon. Johnson has held several of these events in the past, and today's event will feature music, a discussion about creativity, and special guests performing The The songs. The three hour Radio Cineola special airs from 5 to 8pm UK time (12pm to 3pm ET) and can be accessed via the official The The website. Johnson's announcement regarding the show is available to view below:

Radio Cineola will be broadcasting another live show..

But this time, instead of concentrating on politics, we’ll be playing music and discussing procrastination, apathy, inertia and the creative process.

The show features poetry, music, interviews and listener phone-ins plus some intimate live performances of THE THE songs by very special guests.

The Cure kicked off its North American tour in New Orleans in fine form last night. Back in November the Cure told fans the tour would feature "hits, rarities, fan favorites, and some "as of yet previously unreleased material." True to their word, the show included 28 songs, four encores (one of them featuring 4 songs from Seventeen Seconds), tons of hits, fan favorites, a few songs that haven't been played in years, (notably "All I Want," last performed in 1987), and the live debut of two new songs! One of the songs, reportedly titled "It Can Never Be The Same," served as the band's final song of the night. It's uncommon for a band to end a concert with a brand new song, but fans have commented on social media that it was truly a fantastic ending to an epic evening.

View the tracklisting and stream the new songs below via fansite The Cure Mexico.   Audio of the full concert is also available below.

James recently performed a live session for UK station Absolute Radio in promotion of the band's new studio album, Girl At The End Of The World.  Watch the Manchester legends perform three songs from their excellent new record along with the classic Laid track "Say Something" below:

2) Dear John

Stop me if you've heard this one before: a new batch of Stone Roses posters have appeared on billboards in Manchester...

Yes, I know what you're thinking, and it's true -- the last time lemon posters appeared in Manchester it turned out to be a whole lot of hysteria over...well...nothing.  But THIS time it could be what the world is waiting for.  Certainly, it's no secret the Roses have been working on the follow up to 1994's Second Coming, and back in March Ian Brown told NME the recording sessions were "like a dream" and the new music they're creating sounds "glorious."  It's not a stretch to assume they'd want to unleash a taste of this glory before their world tour launches next month.

And now, to stoke the rumor mill further NME is reporting that a new single is imminent. From the report:

"Over the weekend, a fan named Lewis Jones allegedly ran into Stone Roses bassist Mani, who told him a single would be out "next week" (May 9-13). Mani also said to "stay tuned to the radio."

OK, we've all been duped before, and it's highly possible we're being duped again, but between Mani's (alleged) comments and the band's official logo appearing on legitimate billboards, it seems like we're so very close to finally hearing new music from the Manchester legends!

Stay tuned for the Third Coming!

It certainly is a glorious day -- Radiohead made good on its word and released its ninth studio album A Moon Shaped Pool.  The record sees Radiohead mostly abandoning guitars and blippy moments, opting instead for for lush strings and symphonic/rhapsodic arrangements. Let's be honest here, this orchestral direction shouldn't be too surprising, especially considering that for the last few years Jonny Greenwood spent his time composing scores and film soundtracks, plus Radiohead's last release, rejected Bond theme "Spectre," seemed to indicate a move in this direction. Indeed A Moon Shaped Pool is a swoonworthy palette of enchanting auditory soundscapes combined with Thom Yorke's haunting vocals and unsettling lyrics. Phenomenal.

As for individual songs, fans will recognize that most of the songs on A Moon Shaped Pool are studio versions of material Radiohead debuted live over the years. Among them: "Ful Stop" and "Identikit" both made live debuts in 2012; "Present Tense" debuted in 2009; Yorke debuted "Desert Island Disk" and "The Numbers" (previously titled "Silent Spring") at a solo show in 2015; "Burn The Witch" has been a work in progress since the Kid A days; and album closer "True Love Waits" dates all the way back to 1995! [Radiohead first performed "True Love Waits" while on tour promoting the Bends, eventually releasing a stripped down live version on 2001's I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings.] Now a good 20 years from its inception, "True Love Waits" gets a stunning studio rework and serves as Radiohead's breathtaking closing statement.

Here's the full tracklisting -- notice that all the songs are in alphabetical order!

01. Burn The Witch
02. Daydreaming
03. Decks Dark
04. Desert Island Disk
05. Ful Stop
06. Glass Eyes
07. Identikit
08. The Numbers
09. Present Tense
10. Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor Rich Man Poor Man Beggar Man Thief
11. True Love Waits

Bottom line: It's hard to stop gushing over this album, as this is Radiohead's best, most inspired work in years. Flawless, stellar, and brilliant. Everything In Its Right Place, indeed.

Midnight Oil announced plans to reunite and perform live shows in 2017. The band hasn't plotted out the full terms of their reunion, however they posted the following update for fans:

"We know it’s been a while but we wanted to tell you that the five of us are finally making plans to get together again for some gigs next year. We’re looking forward to hopefully playing overseas and touring our homeland for the first time since 2002.

We won’t know exactly when, where and what we’ll be doing before next January at the earliest so in the meantime please just ignore any rumours. Unless and until you hear about something from us you can safely assume that it’s not yet confirmed."

The band is also offering a free download of a live recording for fans who sign up for their newsletter. More details on that are posted here.

The classic punk rock episode of Quincy, has found its way online. Watch as Jack Klugman rages against evil punk rock music that was clearly corrupting the youth in 1982.  The episode, titled Next Stop Nowhere, originally aired December 1st, 1982 on NBC.  Good times.

After toying with and/or taunting fans by erasing their presence from social media, Radiohead finally gave up the goods and debuted the song "Burn The Witch" today. Radiohead fans have been waiting for this day for a LONG time -- "Burn The Witch" has been in the works for years.  Though Radiohead performed the unfinished version in concert years ago, it took until today for the band to release the haunting and lush single. Additionally Radiohead premiered the accompanying official video for "Burn The Witch" which is said to be influenced by the BBC's classic children's show TV Trumpton. Enjoy "Burn The Witch" below and purchase a digital copy now from Radiohead's official site.
