David J from Love & Rockets (and of course Bauhaus) is going to release a new cd this fall. The cd is titled Not Long For This World, and it's set to drop October 18th. Billy Corgan actually had a hand in getting this released, for more on that click here.

Rolling Stone recently held a readers poll where fans were asked to choose their favorite U2 songs of all time. Check out the top 10 vote getting songs here. I'll go ahead and say I agree with a few of the rankings, but was wholeheartedly shocked and disappointed with the number one song chosen. But you know what they say about opinions...

Morrissey has never shied away from making controversial comments during his lengthy career. Recently he uttered a doozy of a comment about Norway at a concert in Poland. Morrissey was about to play the Smiths' classic, "Meat is Murder" but before he played the song he allegedly said:

"We all live in a murderous world as the events in Norway have shown...though that is nothing compated to what happens in McDonald's and Kentucky Fried **** every day."

Alan Wilder from Depeche Mode & Recoil was recently interviewed by electro zine Electricity Club. Wilder revealed his favorite Depeche Mode songs of all time (Songs of Faith & Devotion is his favorite DM album), and also discussed some of his vintage equipment that will be auctioned off in September. An all-encompassing limited editon Smiths boxset is set to drop in the fall in the U.K. The Smiths Collection includes ALL of the band's studio cds (The Smiths, Meat is Murder, the Queen is Dead, Strangeways Here We Come) remastered by Johnny Marr and FrankArkwright. The collection also features the band's live cd, Rank, as well as three other Smiths compilations (Hatful of Hollow, Louder Than Bombs, and the World Won't Listen) .

But wait, there's more--all of the band's 7 inch singles (all 25 of them) will be included, as well as a DVD featuring the band's videos. Finally, the collection comes with a download code so that you can download the catalog as a high quality mp3 (320k).

A special behind the scenes interview with Public Image Limited will air tomorrow on BBC radio. John Lydon took the interviewers on a tour of the studio where PiL has been recording a new cd. Lydon discussed the band's current lineup, recording process, and overall future of PiL. The BBC will air excerpts from the interview all day tomorrow, so be sure to check it out here. Today Spin revealed more details regarding the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's cd Nevermind. As previously mentioned, Nevermind will be reissued September 27th in a variety of formats: a single edition cd, 2 cd deluxe edition, 4 cd/1 dvd box set, and 4-LP 180 gram vinyl edition. A Jane's Addiction concert will stream live starting at 9pm ET/6pm PT tonight! The show, Jane's Addiction Comes Alive, will be streaming live from Terminal 5 in New York City right here. You'll be able to see the concert in 3D, plus you can choose from three different camera feeds. Next month a documentary featuring the 3D concert will be available to view on the YouTube channel, so make sure to stop back on August 4th.
Nick Cave's classic song, "the Ship Song" has been reworked by a collection of musicians and opera singers as a tribute to the iconic Sydney Opera House (pictured below). To find out more about the history of the architecturally magnificent Opera House and the project itself, visit the official Ship Song Project YouTube channel. A documentary chronicling the project is also currently in production.

It's been out of print for quite a while, but soon a pretty sweet Sonic Youth compilation will get a new lease on life. Hits Are For Squares is a collection of Sonic Youth songs compiled by musical luminaries such as Eddie Vedder, Radiohead, Beck, Flea, Mike D, the Flaming Lips, and others. You can check out the tracklisting here. Hits Are For Squares will drop August 23rd.
John Lydon's London home was recently ruined by fire. The fire was believed to be started by a malfunctioning clothes dryer. Lydon's wife was at home when the fire broke out, luckily she was able to escape unharmed. Unfortunately the Lydon's million dollar plus home wasn't insured! Read about the drama here.
MTV's old school alternative video show, 120 Minutes, is set to return to MTV2 next Saturday night. The show originally aired in the late 80's all the way through the early 2000's, and was finally axed after MTV became a reality show network. At any rate, the show will be resurrected and will air on MTV2 on the last Saturday of every month. The first episode is set to air Saturday night (well, really Sunday morning at 1am--so it's on Saturday night/Sunday morning), and will be hosted by Matt Pinfield. This Saturday's episode will feature interviews with David Grohl, Dangermouse & Daniele Luppi, Kings of Leon, PJ Harvey, Sleigh Bells, and more. 120 Minutes will also be available to view on MTV.com.

Noel Gallagher's video for "the Death of You & Me" is set to debut on his official website this Monday morning. This weekend Gallagher has been posting some photos from the video shoot, plus he's posted the strings and vocal parts for another new song "Everybody's On the Run." The full cd, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds will be released on November 8th.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds released a trailer for the band's first video, "the Death of You & Me." The full video is set to premiere on Noel's website Monday morning, and the single will be available starting August 21st. The full length self-titled cd will be released November 8th in the U.S. (it comes out October 17th in the U.K.).

Radiohead's The King of Limbs--From the Basement is set to air on Palladia this Saturday at 9pm. Then Saturday, July 30th the broadcast will air on MTV2. From the Basement was recorded about a month ago and had been posted on YouTube. Most of the video segments of the performance were pulled off YouTube, but a few audio segments are still up there (for the time being).

Beady Eye will return to North America later this year for a tour. The full tour itinerary is available here (no Detroit date, sadly).

The guys in Beady Eye are all huge football fans and were thrilled to make a video to help promote the new uniform the

A storm was to blame for a stage that collapsed this afternoon at the Ottawa Bluesfest in Vancouver. According to reports, Cheap Trick had been about 20 minutes into their set when the stage collapsed, leaving one injured. Luckily no one was trapped underneath the stage and organizers were able to evacuate the area. Death Cab For Cutie had been scheduled to play after Cheap Trick, however due to the nature of the situation, the rest of the evening's events have been canceled. Nick Harmer from Death Cab tweeted out a picture of the collapsed stage which you can check out here.
Rhino will be giving the entire Jesus & Mary Chain catalog the reissue treatment! The band's six studio cds will be released as expanded 2 cd/dvd sets which will come along with 32 page booklets. The cds will be reissued in stages: Psychocandy and Darklands will be released September 19th, on September 26th Automatic and Honey's Dead will drop, and finally Stoned & Dethroned and Munki wrap things up on October 3rd. He fractured his right index finger and sustained other injuries to his hand and arm. Noel Gallagher has revealed details about his forthcoming debut cd. Noel's band is called Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds and the cd will be self-titled: Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. The cd features 10 songs, including "the Death of You & Me" (song title was previously revealed by a video production company). The full cd is set to drop on October 17th worldwide (probably October 18th in North America) and the band will kick off a tour in October. Noel also revealed that he has another full cd already in the can and he'll release that next year. The second cd was a collaboration with Amorphous Androgynous.

The entire press conference will be posted later on Noel's newly launched website & also his YouTube channel.

Damon Albarn from Blur and Gorillaz has composed a folk opera titled Doctor Dee. The opera is about John Dee who was a medical advisor to Elizabeth I. Albarn performed at the opera's premiere last Friday, you can check out a picture plus read more about the project here.

Rumors are swirling that Noel Gallagher will be holding a press conference this Wednesday (July 6th) to announce details about his forthcoming solo cd. Last month a video production company revealed they had worked on the video for Gallagher's alleged solo single, "the Death of You & Me" though Gallagher never confirmed this information.
