A Velvet Underground documentary that was filmed in 1986 has been posted on You Tube. Clicky clicky.
Oasis will release Stop the Clocks, an 18-track double cd filled with the band's greatest hits, on November 21st. While the tracklisting isn't officially official, Noel Gallagher reportedly told the British paper, the Sun, what songs will make it to the collection. Hmmm...I hope this list is bogus, because "She's Electric", "Married With Children" and "Morning Glory" are not on the list! Oh bother. You can read the article here, or if you're too lazy to click on over, here's the alleged list of songs that the newspaper claims Noel wants on the compilation:

Some Might Say
Don't Look Back In Anger
D'You Know What I Mean?
All Around The World
Go Let It Out
The Hindu Times
The Importance Of Being Idle
Half The World Away
Champagne Supernova
Rock n' Roll Star

Chad Kroeger from Nickelback has been charged with driving under the influence. The charge stems from an incident that took place in June in British Columbia. When the news of the incident became public in June, the police would only say that the matter was under investigation. Apparently the investigation is now over because Kroeger was charged on Wednesday. His court date has been scheduled for August 25th.
Shaun Morgan from Seether has made the decision to check himself into rehab. He starts a rehab program on Monday, so the band has decided to cancel all tour dates and public appearances until further notice.

Here's part of the statement from Seether's official website:

Seether front man Shaun Morgan has admitted to himself and those close to him that he needs help and is making the proactive move to seek it. Following scheduled appearances this week, all future plans have been placed on hold until further notice as Morgan plans to begin his recovery process on Monday, July 31st. Morgan, who has established himself as one of the leading singers in rock over the past five years, has made a personal choice to attack what he sees as a dependence on a combination of substances. The band had planned to tour in August with Staind behind their recently released live acoustic album One Cold Night. The opportunity to perform this repertoire in an acoustic setting is something the band hopes to do at some point in the future. Morgan commented, “I’m deeply sorry that this news comes right before a planned tour, especially one that I was so excited about, and I hope that everyone understands. I need help with addictions that I can’t kick on my own. These things are making me sick, and could potentially harm me permanently, so I need to take care of them as soon as possible. I hope the tour goes well, and we hope to be on the road again soon. Thank you again for your understanding and support.”
Here's the scoop on the Nintendo Fusion Tour. As I mentioned previously, Hawthorne Heights will headline this year's tour. Relient K, Emery, Plain White T's and the Sleeping will also be on the bill. The tour kicks off September 27th in Columbus and will at the State Theater on September 29th. Keep it on 89x for official ticket information.

Thursday, Rise Against and Billy Talent will be touring together in the fall. The tour kicks in September and it will roll through town November 15th at the State Theater. Ticket info will be posted once it is available.
New Found Glory will release its new cd, Coming Home, on September 19th. You've already heard the first single, "It's Not Your Fault" on 89X. Look for the video to debut on MTV this Tuesday on TRL. In more NFG news, the band has just announced a 34 date headline tour. The tour kicks October 4th in Cincinnati and will make its way to Clutch Cargos in Pontiac on October 13th. Cartel and the Early November will serve as opening acts for the tour.

REM is set to release a sweet compilation in the fall. The 2 cd/1 dvd set will be brimming with material from the years they spent on IRS records. And I Feel Fine will contain studio tracks, live performances, previously unreleased material and more. Plus all the material on the set was chosen by the original members of REM. Look for this to drop on September 12th. I've pasted the tracklisting below, but you can also click here to read more about the release.

Blender has come up with a list of the "25 biggest wusses" in music. If you have a sense of humor (Robert Smith from the Cure placed number 25 on the list) you can check it out here. And be sure to look to the right of the page to play the "wimpy words" lyric game. It's a quiz to see if you can finish the lyrics of each Wussmaster's song correctly. Like I said, if you have a sense of humor about things, go ahead and click, if not...
The New York Dolls will release a new cd on Tuesday! The new cd, One Day It Will Please Us To Remember Even This, will come with a 45 minute dvd. The first single from the cd is called "Dance Like A Monkey" and you can check out the video for it here.

Back in 1993, U2 released a concert video called Zoo TV--Live In Sydney. But that was back in 1993 when everyone rocked a VCR. Well, technology has changed and fans have been clamoring for a dvd release! Never ones to disappoint, it looks like Bono and the gang will appease the fans by releasing the dvd, which will be chock full of bonus material! Apparently this dvd release will feature a "video confessional" among other things! Look for the dvd in the fall.
Johnny Marr and Bernard Sumner had a good run with their project Electronic. The band released three Electronic cds in the 1990's. Now they are putting out a greatest hits collection. Get the Message--The Best of Electronic will drop on September 19th. There will be 13 songs on the cd, including single versions of "Get the Message" and "Disappointed."
The Benicassim Festival has been rocking fans in Spain all weekend. The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, Morrissey, Depeche Mode and others have all played this year's festival. The Pixies were also a part of the festivities yesterday, and fans had to wait quite a long time to enjoy the band's entire set. A barrier at the front of the stage broke after the band played only 5 songs. The Pixies didn't want to disappoint, so they waited for security to fix the barrier. After an hour and a half the band was able to take the stage to resume their set!
The Voodoo Music Festival will return to New Orleans in the fall. The Red Hot Chili Peppers, My Chemical Romance, Secret Machines, Social Distortion and even Duran Duran! The festival is scheduled for October 28th.

Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley got married over the weekend. They wanted to make it a secret affair, so they sent out postcards to their guests about a week before the wedding, alerting them to make plans to fly out to California. Well, it wasn't that much of a secret because a couple of photographers were hip to what was happening and were able to take a bunch of pictures. Check them out here.
Korn is scheduled to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight. They are reportedly going to play a couple of acoustic songs, so don't miss the show tonight.
In less than surprising news, it has surfaced that Dave Navarro and Carmen Elektra are indeed splitting up. Apparently it's an amicable split, and not many details are available. You can read a short blurb on the life altering event here.

For you fun-loving peeps that loved to rock Pac-Man back in the day, here's a website you may want to check out. It's a link for you to play Punk Rock Pac-Man! Unlike the classic Pac-Man (and Ms. Pac-Man!!) the object of Punk Rock Pac-Man is to collect records and avoid hippies. Apparently this is a Windows-only free download. Don't blame me if you get addicted.
Noel Gallagher from Oasis has signed on to do a one-off event in November, and it's all for charity! True story! Gallagher is playing a benefit called "For Pities Sake Focus" which will be an evening of art, comedy and music. All proceeds go to Focus12, a charity devoted to helping those that are addicted to drugs.

Weezer's Rivers Cuomo recently did an interview with MTV and revealed that the band is on an indefinite hiatus. Cuomo said, "for the moment we are done...I'm not certain we'll ever make a record again, unless it becomes really obvious to me that we need to do one." Never say never though, because in the next breath Cuomo admitted that he's been feeling quite creative lately and has been writing lots of new songs. He's even suggested that he's against having a solo career, so who knows. At any rate, there will be no more Weezer records for awhile, although there will be some sort dvd release in the near future.
