Placebo announced plans to celebrate their 20th anniversary with an extensive world tour in 2016 & 2017. The 20 Years of Placebo World Tour will celebrate the band's entire history and will include material the band has not played in years, including songs leader Brian Molko himself had previously said he'd never perform again. From Molko's official statement on the tour:

"Let's just say there will be songs in the set that I've sworn never to play again. I think it's time that we purposefully acknowledged what a lot of Placebo fans really want to hear. They've been very patient with us since we rarely play our most commercially successful material.

A 20 year anniversary tour seems like the right time to do so. That's our intention. This tour is very much for the fans and a chance for us to revisit a lot of our early material.

So, if you want to see us play songs like 'Pure Morning’ and 'Nancy Boy’ which we haven't played in almost ten years and may not play again, then you'd better come along to these shows! We'll have some surprises in there too...."

The first leg of the tour kicks off in the autumn and focuses on Europe & the U.K.  Don't count out a North American leg just yet -- they've only announced dates for the first leg so far and according to the band "further dates for 2017 will be revealed later" so keep your fingers crossed and stay tuned! Eagulls return with their highly anticipated follow up to their 2014 debut this spring. The new album, Ullages, will be released on May 13th.  Guitarist Mark Goldsworthy on the new album:

"There was an idea around the release of the first album that we’re these rowdy lads and we’re not, we’re just into making music...We just wanted to make music that had ups and downs, not one sort of beat, something different but that follows on from the first record. More dynamic, more thoughtful."

Eagulls previously issued two songs from the record; the dazzling Cure-esque epic "Lemontrees" and "My Life In Rewind." Eagulls have now unleashed another impressive new song titled "Skipping," which is available to preview below:

Last week Richard Ashcroft debuted an uplifting new single "This Is How It Feels," from his forthcoming solo album These People.  Ashcroft recently revealed to BBC Radio 6 host Steve Lamacq that the single is about resilience, and is intended to help lead people out of the darkness.

"Instead of celebrating those dark moments and lead people into them, I want to give a feeling that leads them out through this madness, through that gap between the screen and reality and the real stuff, the human emotion."

Ashcroft says he used a "palette of different instruments" to create These People and describes the album as full of "pretty powerful songs" that are "more of the timeless nature," yet still forge ahead into the future.

Though fans haven't heard much from Ashcroft lately, he's very motivated and dedicated to creating music and performing live:

"It's only the start I think, I've been away for a few years. I've done the odd gig but I'm really excited now and hungry to progress and hopefully take it to a great level where everyone's happy and can come and see me live and we can celebrate life."

Today Ashcroft debuted the official video for "This Is How It Feels" which is available to stream below.

These People is set for a May 20th release in the U.K. and Europe. So far a North American release hasn't been announced, but fans can pre-order the import through Amazon and Ashcroft's official store.

Wire announced the release of a mini-album, Nocturnal Koreans, on April 22nd. The post-punk veterans have been on a roll lately unleashing compelling new music which still sounds classic, yet modern and ahead of its time. The band's last record, the critically acclaimed Wire, was released less than a year ago. According to leader Colin Newman, Nocturnal Koreans was conceived around the time Wire was recorded, but the material came together quite differently than their self-titled record:

"The WIRE album was quite respectful of the band, and Nocturnal Koreans is less respectful of the band—or, more accurately, it’s the band being less respectful to itself—in that it’s more created in the studio, rather than recorded basically as the band played it, which was mostly the case with WIRE. A general rule for this record was: any trickery is fair game, if it makes it sound better."

Wire debuted the album's title track today -- Newman reveals "Nocturnal Koreans" is about a "sleepless night that Wire spent in a seedy Boston-area hotel" while on tour in 2013. Stream the track below and catch up with Wire here.

Back in 2013 Richard Ashcroft revealed he had been working on new music and would be releasing new music soon. Soon is officially now, because today Ashcroft debuted his new single "This Is How It Feels."  He's also announced details for his new full length studio album These People which will arrive on May 20th. What are you waiting for? Stream "This Is How It Feels," the fantastic return to form below!

The 10 track album These People is available to pre-order on LP (limited edition blue vinyl or standard black vinyl), CD, and digital download, plus other bundle pre-order options are available at the official Richard Ashcroft store.

FYI, Ashcroft has previously stated that he's very committed to moving forward and releasing new music. Nostalgia and reunions are not his idea of a good time.  He put the kibosh on a Verve reunion during a 2013 interview with the BBC:

"No it's not happening...the whole nostalgia thing is getting very suffocating and it's difficult for younger acts, especially the festivals, if you look at some of the lineups you know, the lineups - I'm not ageist by any means - but what I'm saying is if it's dominated by nostalgia then we need the youth to create their own version of what potentially may be nostalgia but they don't have a place to do that...the big monster dinosaur acts mopping up all the money."

Smart Studios, located in Madison, Wisconsin and established in 1983 by Butch Vig and Steve Marker, was a crucial recording destination (and home) for noisy independent bands in the 80's & 90's.  Legions of bands recorded there over the years -- Killdozer, Tad, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, L7, Archers of Loaf, Poster Children, Laughing Hyenas, Garbage, and SO many more. James is set to return with the new full length release Girl At The End Of The World, on March 18th. The 12 track album was written in Scotland in January 2015, only months after the release of 2014's Le Petit Mort. The record came together quickly because James recently signed a three record deal with BMG, and the label encouraged them to get back into the studio quickly to keep the momentum going. As a result, according to vocalist Tim Booth, the record was difficult and stressful to make, but ultimately the band is proud of the release. Bassist Jim Glennie further explained Booth's comments in a new interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post:

"There have been quite a lot of deadlines and time pressures...and I think we’ve all suffered a bit because of that but primarily it's difficult when you're a singer because you've got to write words, it's not just about getting the music right, it’s about coming up with what it is you want to sing about and I think we all felt quite a lot of pressure because of the deadlines"

Unlike the last record, which explored death and its aftermath, Girl At The End Of The World has no theme, so to speak.  Expect songs that are "personal, abrasive, warming, and uplifting" along with some "anthemic dance" grooves. Additionally, Glennie reveals the record features interesting and complex lyrics:

"There’s a few on the record where I don’t think he (Booth) knows completely what he’s singing about yet but it kind of becomes a bit clearer as things move forward. I like it when he writes those lyrics, they’re a bit weird, there’s a slightly confusing complexity to them."

Last fall James debuted the first song from the album "To My Surprise," and now they've premiered the first proper single from the record, "Nothing But Love," which is available to stream below:

Girl At The End Of The World is available to pre-order from iTunes, Amazon, or the official webstore.

Fifty Dollar Famous is a two piece punk rock / hardcore project featuring Red Hot Rebellion members Jim Tramontana and Andris Devine. The DIY duo threw all caution to the wind, then wrote and recorded the songs for their debut release in under an hour. The 7" release We Play Punk For Money features the badass jam "Tiny House" b/w "Phone Tag" -- but take note: though they're calling it a 7" release, the songs are only available digitally, because as their press release states, they are "too punk to release it on vinyl." Check out the tracks below and purchase through iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and more.
