A documentary about the Oxford music scene, Anyone Can Play Guitar-The Oxford Music Scene Documentary, will be released on October 31st. New Musical Express has already sang praises about the film, calling it "one of the 10 vital music docs of 2011." Anyone Can Play Guitar features music from influential bands out of Oxford, England, such as Ride, Radiohead, Swervedriver, Supergrass, and the Candy Skins.

It's pretty exciting news that the film is finally coming out, because there for awhile it looked like the film was going to be shelved. After shooting, director Jon Spira ran into some financial issues which led to the film's delay, but after a successful online fundraising campaign, the film is indeed ready for a proper release on DVD. The lucky peeps in the U.K. will also have the opportunity to attend screenings on the indie cinema tour, which also promises some live musical performances from Oxford bands past and present. Ordering info is forthcoming, so be sure to keep an eye on the film's official website and Facebook page.

Check out the trailer for Anyone Can Play Guitar below.

Back a few months ago, Rhino U.K. announced plans to release a super duper Smiths collection, The Smiths-Complete, which you can still pre-order from Rhino U.K. here. However, as of today, Rhino U.S. started taking pre-orders for this same collection, and the nice thing is that you won't have to pay the hefty shipping fees since you're buying it stateside. Rhino U.S. will be selling only 750 copies, so if you're interested in this, I'd order it now.

Of course, you may also want to check out what appears to be THE VERY SAME COLLECTION at Amazon, because it's even cheaper than the version Rhino is selling (almost 150 dollars less). Regardless, do what you've gotta do, I'm just passing along the info...

Dinosaur Jr are reissuing their first three albums, Dinosaur, You're Living All Over Me, and Bug, on October 4th. You can now pre-order the albums here.

Dinosaur Jr have also announced dates for a short West Coast tour in the fall where they'll play Bug in its entirety. Henry Rollins will be conducting a short interview on stage live before each show. For dates, visit the band's official website.

Back in 1991 Dinosaur Jr toured with Sonic Youth and Nirvana in Europe. Sonic Youth put together a documentary about that legendary tour, (which will be reissued on DVD tomorrow). Watch Dinosaur Jr. play "Freak Scene" from 1991: The Year Punk Broke below.

The Cure played for a lengthy two and a half hours at Bestival 2011 on Saturday night. The band played a set full of Cure faves and followed that up with two encores. LOOK AT THE AWESOMENESS WE MISSED! How fitting the band played "10:15 Saturday night" ON a Saturday night. Good times.

For more on what Robert Smith is up to these days, check out this recent interview by the Guardian.

Chuck Klosterman from Grantland wrote a fantastic article on Noel Gallagher. If you're an Oasis fan at all, you'll enjoy it. Gallagher talks fame, success, drugs, and why Be Here Now was so long. Be sure to also check out Klosterman's footnotes. Good stuff. Read the article here.
Today I stumbled upon this fun cover of Kraftwerk's song "The Model" by Balanescu Quartet:

Here's the original Kraftwerk version:

Big Black's version is pretty good too:

And then there's Ride's straight ahead version recorded for the NME 40th anniversary compilation titled Ruby Trax (it's a 3-disc set of covers, cool rare stuff if you can find it floating around somewhere).

The Weekly Feed interviewed Mudhoney at last weekend's PJ20 Festival. Check out the interview below:

New Order announced today that they're reforming for a couple of benefit shows this fall. I'm not sure it should really be called a reunion, because while Gillian Gilbert will be taking part, bassist and founding member, Peter Hook most certainly will not. Hooky will be busy playing classic Joy Division albums on his Unknown Pleasures/Closer tour, but I'm also guessing he wasn't asked to be a part of the N'Order reunion anyway.

Watch New Order perform their classic song, "Temptation" for the BBC from 1984 below:

Today, Noel Gallagher premiered new songs from his forthcoming solo cd. Listen to "AKA...What A Life!" and "If I Had A Gun" below. Both songs will appear on the debut cd, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, which is set to drop on November 8th.

Iggy Pop sustained multiple fractures to his leg in Romania on August 27th after tripping over a microphone stand on stage. Iggy has been sidelined for at least six to eight weeks while the injuries heal. Consequently, the four shows the Stooges had lined up for later this month have been canceled.

If you like the Stooges, be sure to check out Raw Power Live: In The Hands Of Fans on Blu-Ray and DVD on September 27th. This release features footage of the band's 2010 performance of Raw Power at the All Tomorrow's Parties festival, plus a special interview Iggy did with the six fans who filmed the show.

Pearl Jam held their Pearl Jam 20 festival in Alpine Valley this weekend, and as expected, there was a Temple of the Dog reunion. Read a review of the festival here, and watch some footage from last night's set below.

Screamadelica turns 20 years old this year.

If you're a Pearl Jam fan, be sure to visit the band's official website daily. They're releasing exclusive content each day leading up to the release of Pearl Jam 20, the band's documentary. Today they posted a live version of "Better Man" from last year's show at Madison Square Garden, which you can watch below.

Morrissey's North American tour dates have been posted here.
