Dave Gahan and Mark Lanegan teamed up with Martyn LeNoble and Christian Eigner to record a cover of David Bowie's "Cat People (Putting Out Fire)." According to LeNoble, the track was recorded as a benefit single for the American Liver Foundation . The cover was uploaded to LeNoble's Bandcamp page by mistake a few days ago, but has since been pulled down. The single will officially be released digitally on August 2nd.

LeNoble was a founding member of Porno For Pyros and has worked with Mark Lanegan and Soulsavers in the past; Eigner collaborated with Dave Gahan on several Depeche Mode songs released on 2005's Playing The Angel and 2009's Sounds Of The Universe.

The original version of "Cat People (Putting Out Fire)" was recorded by David Bowie and Giorgio Moroder in 1981 and served as the theme song for the 1982 remake of the film Cat People. Bowie went on to re-record the track and released a new version on 1983's Let's Dance.
