Holger Czukay, bassist and engineer of the legendary band Can has died at the age of 79. According to reports Czukay was found dead today in Can's original studio where he had been living. The cause of death is unknown at this time.

Besides his work in Can, Czukay released several solo albums and was considered to be a sampling pioneer - he created various effects by utilizing and integrating shortwave radio broadcasts/sounds into his musical recordings. He also collaborated with several musicians including Brian Eno, David Sylvian, Eurythmics, The Edge, and Jah Wobble. [His collaboration with Sylvian produced a pair of instrumental ambient records Plight & Premonition and Flux & Mutability.]

Sadly, this is the second death to rock Can in 2017 - drummer and founder Jaki Liebezeit died January 22nd from pneumonia. He was 78 years old.
